*Exciting thing I'm excited to share* A local guide for kid's mental health services (FREE resources highlighted). https://www.squamishcounselling.ca/sky/... I am a counsellor, BUT I made this as a parent, with the help of the school district, and other parents. I didn't know that our school counsellors had so many kids to work with. For example, at GHE, one counsellor is expected to serve the entire school (including in class help, seeing students individually) in 2.5 only days a week. So hundreds of kids a week. I learned that school counsellors shouldn't be considered primary help... But rather 'short term/ crisis' situations. (I had no idea, my kid was stoked to see hers then got dropped without warning). Another thing we noticed as parents was that finding information about outside help could be overwhelming. There are some great FREE options in town, and there are many private experts available. Okay I did it. Getting to practice my acceptance and commitment therapy skills on myself.
