Today is Remembrance Day. You will note that this monument in the cemetery at Badjeros, like the other monuments in Grey Highlands, is made of stone -that’s because the people that built it knew that those that came after must remember. To date, over 2,300,000 Canadians have served, and over 118,000 have died. ... We owe immense gratitude to our veterans and military personnel that served, died, and to those that continue to serve. Today we remember. Lest we forget. #remembranceday #lestweforget #greyhighlands #museumfromhome #badjeros

Reuben Cargoe was born in Flesherton, and volunteered for service when he was 17 in 1916. Like many young men at the time, he was eager to do his part. Take a second to look at how young he is in this photo. Reuben was killed in 1918. ... The Circumstances of Death Register states that Reuben was Killed in Action- During the advance on the Drocourt-Queant Line, he was instantly killed by a bullet through the head.
