Looking to add to the sidelines of the school’s athletic field, the idea to design and build a custom 10-tier grandstand was brought to our team earlier this year. In addition to the seating and ensuring the bleacher was completely accessible, our team was also mandated with coordinating, furnishing and closing off the building permit as well as procuring all inspectors necessary for the school to obtain occupancy from the municipal building authority. As part of one of our most recent projects, we were called back to Gee-Gees Field, this time to provide a completely custom netting barrier. As a true multi-use facility, the field is currently being used for cross-direction 7-on-7 soccer play. As such, stakeholders at the university’s athletic program had grown concerned with the risk of balls leaving the field and possibly entering the busy roadway adjacent to the stadium. Given the sheer size of the stadium, this netting barrier was no small installation. Working closely with our partners at the Wellington Catholic District School Board, a project was brought to our attention at one of Guelph’s high schools. Located in the south end of the city, our team was asked to assess the condition of some outdated bleachers at Bishop Macdonnel High School and provide a suitable replacement seating system. As with many existing wooden bleacher systems, the use and operation of these bleachers was quickly posing a safety risk to both students and staff. Upon an initial review, it was agreed that the existing bleachers should be replaced with an updated solution. https://hubs.ly/H0xtgB-0

Following the design process and approvals, the concrete slab was planned and poured at the site. There, the execution was flawless right through to the final bolt.
