SPX Parents, It is the last week of school for the 2020 year!!!!!! Just to make things a bit more fun, this Thursday is CIVVIES DAY for the Angel Foundation and this Friday is Christmas Spirit Day! This Thursday, Dec 17, is a Civvies Day at St. Pius X! Students can dress down. If you are able, please consider supporting the Angel Foundation for Learning, an official charity of the TCDSB. It’s mandate is to support children’s education, with an emphasis on social justice. T...his year, they have the additional prgram COVID-19 Emergency Response program to directly support TCDSB students and families during this crisis. The DEADLINE for submitting your kids into the production is rapidly approaching!... Please remember to email your submission in to [email protected] BY DECEMBER 10 - this THURSDAY! WHAT WE NEED Between a 5-second to a 10-second long recording of: your child(ren) wishing everyone a Merry Christmas; or your child(ren) saying or doing something they want to share; or them just being kids. We want to see your children’s faces clearly in frame but are also happy to include the whole family, art work or visual messages too. If you have more than one child, please try to include everyone in the same recording. If your file is larger than 15 MB, please compress / zip it prior to sending. Food Drive - Loaves and Fishes Food Bank @ St. Pius X Church Food insecurity has become even more of an issue during the Covid Pandemic. There is a growing need for food and supplies for people in our own neighbourhood who cannot afford to fill their shelves. Back in August, St. Pius X Church volunteered to allow a new food bank to operate out of its basement. The Loaves & Fishes Food Bank is open every Friday from 1-3pm, and has seen the number of people accessing this food ...bank increase with each passing week. From Monday, December 7th - Wednesday, December 16th, St. Pius X School will be collecting non-perishable items for the Loaves & Fishes Foodbank. There is a specific need for the follow items: canned tuna soups peanut butter beans (baked, chick peas, kidney) canned stew and other types of ready meals canned fruit pasta sauce pasta instant oatmeal quick cooking oatmeal cereal disposable razors (men's and women's) feminine hygiene products soap shampoo conditioner toilet paper kleenex If you are able to help with these or any other non-perishable items, please send them to school with your child or drop them off directly at the church on Thursdays 9:30-11:30 or Fridays 11:30-3:00.
