We are so excited to be starting our 2021 programs up this week! Friday we will be running our Games with Friends program on zoom and extending our program time from 4-5:30! Hangout and play games like among us, houseparty and jackbox together. Message for the zoom link! Sign up Saturday for a coffee/hot chocolate and check-in with the youth workers! We are there to assist you in anything that life throws at you ( school work, finding a job, relationships, mental/physi...cal health). We also just love a good check-in to see what’s going on in your life! All check ins abide by current provincial covid-19 restrictions and may happen in person or virtually. This has been a pretty major year for our program and I’d like to take a quick second to send out a big THANK YOU into the world before ringing in 2021. To all the people who have participated, visited, joined, called, messaged, entered a zoom link, passed on the good word, said hello and were with us whether virtually or in person, THANK YOU. It’s been a journey from our old home at the familiar Youth Centre to the unprecedented (the word of the year, had too) pandemic happe...ning amongst its closing. To the team, current and past, the work you put into loving the space we hold and transitioning all of what we do into a whole new world has been the most epic, creative, and admiral efforts out there. Looking back at photos from 2020, I see that together we were able to still have SO MUCH FUN and get some major work accomplished. This has me feeling so grateful moving into this New Year! From Dinner Club at the Youth Centre, eating mac and cheese and stir fry laughing around our happy little tables. To cooking and having a blast eating meals together like pancakes and pasta Alfredo over Zoom instead! We went on dog walks, did a lot of art, played music together but apart. We went tree top trekking in Whistler, tromped around the trails at the top of the Gondola, and did work outs in the park. We sculpted mugs, played UNO and ate burritos, went to coffee shops and found treasures. We even did an Escape Room over ZOOM! We played capture the flag on the last day the Youth Centre was open and versed each other in games of pool and ping pong. We talked about our problems, hopes and dreams and aspirations. The doors of a space that held so many good times are memories now but I know we will remember them forever. We will keep pushing through this pandemic together and look forward to the new doors of Foundry Squamish opening. It really has been a wild year and I can’t wait to see all of you again soon to make more memories! Thanks and happy new year! From Caitlin, your Youth Services Coordinator.
