Congratulations to all of our athletes who took part in the Northern Alberta Open last weekend! Andrew Rusheleau won gold in Senior Mixed Sabre. Madison Thurgood won silver in Senior Mixed Sabre. Timothy Lu won silver in Junior Mixed Sabre. Eden Koster and Irina Nachinova both won bronze in Veteran Mixed Sabre. Henri Todd won bronze in U15 Mixed Sabre. Congratulations to our athlete, Marissa Ponich! She was part of the women's sabre team (along with Gabriella Page and Pamela Brind'Amour) who won a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru! Great way to end the fencing season. Two of our athletes, Marissa Ponich and Madison Thurgood, competed as part of the National Team in Toronto at the Pan American Championships this past week along with Gabriella Page and Pamela Brind'Amour. The team did an amazing job and showed great fencing, bringing home a silver in the team event! Congratulations to Team Canada! SSC sweeps the podium at the Edmonton Open Provincial tournament in the senior mixed sabre event! Congrats to Marissa Ponich (gold), Andrew Rusheleau (silver), Daniel Potter (bronze), and Timothy Lu (bronze). Thank you to our coach, Sergei Kazimirski! Daniel Potter also won gold in Junior Men's Sabre yesterday. Another special mention to Timothy Lu for his bronze medal at the Canada Cup in the end of January!
