Here you go! Mr. Sawada grew his hair & beard once schools were closed. He told his family & our St. John school community that he wouldn’t shave his beard/cut his hair until school was reopened. Well, today was the last day of school & at the insistence of his family, he made an appointment to cut his hair & shaved his beard! Here is the before picture! Check the comments for the after picture and leave a comment as to who you think Mr. Sawada looks like with the beard!

Not sure how to start to talk to your children about racism? One strategy teachers use are books! A good book gets people talking about what they read (or heard if read aloud) and here is a great list of books that could help start (or reignite) a conversation on racism.
