Today is National Childs Day By ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991, Canada made a commitment to ensure that all children are treated with dignity and respect. This commitment includes the opportunity for children to have a voice, be protected from harm, and be provided with their basic needs and every opportunity to reach their full potential. St. Albert FRC believes in the right of all children to be healthy, to have a safe place to live and have access to nutritious food. They deserve to be nurtured and kept safe. Join us in celebrating the right of our most precious, our children! Happy National Child's Day

True self-regulation is not fully established until our mid-twenties. Even then, we often turn to others to help us feel better when we are feeling low. And we ...are often quite happy to help other adults feel better when they’re dysregulated, however when children need our help, we may be reluctant to give it, perhaps in fear that it will stunt their emotional resilience. This simply isn’t true. Self-regulation is a developmental process. We cannot expect a child to self-regulate until they’ve experienced co-regulation (soothing by someone else) time and time again. Thanks to @neurochildhq for the pic.

You're going to come in contact with an awful lot of people who are at their absolute breaking point this month. Friends, family, neighbours, co-workers, teache...rs, strangers in the grocery store, retail workers. While it maybe the merriest time of year for some, it maybe the saddest, most stressful, loneliest, most heartbreaking for other's. We're all busy. But we're not too busy to be kind, caring and patient. Remember the best thing you can give someone this season is your love and kindness. - Amy Weatherly Season of love and kindness...Be kind

It’s Family Violence Prevention Month this month and when it comes to domestic abuse, children often become the hidden victims. When a child is either abused ...or witnesses violence at a young age, the effects can severely impact their psychological development. Many children exposed to domestic violence can have difficulty learning and limited social skills; exhibit violent, risky or delinquent behaviour; or suffer from depression or severe anxiety, according to UNICEF. Unfortunately, the trauma experienced by the child can carry forward into adulthood. This month, let’s bring awareness to the impact family violence is having on our community. You can start by checking out the link below that goes into the impacts domestic abuse has on children. You can also help by sharing this post and or supporting local organizations, like ourselves, who provide support to families in crisis and connect them with the resources they need to create a safe environment for their infants and children. https://uni.cf/378PcZa
