Mark Your Calendar! On Ash Wednesday, Bishop Michael and his Assistants invite you to gather for an Eastern Synod-Wide Livestreamed Worship Service at 6:30pm ES...T (7:30pm AST). Service will be livestreamed on the Eastern Synod Facebook page. Those gathered for this unique Synod-Wide worship opportunity will be invited to impose their own ashes (if ashes have been provided by their local congregation), or make a sign of the cross on their own forehead. All worship materials (including a copy of Bishop Michael’s sermon), livestream links, and other resources will be available one week in advance (https://easternsynod.org/ash-wednesday/). Resources may be reproduced and shared with those who do not have access or the ability to participate in mediated worship. A recorded version of worship will also be available after the livestream has ended. Bishop Michael and Pastors Christie, Doug and Adam look forward to gathering with you as we begin the season of Lent. #myELCIC #lent2021 #AshWednesday

I thought that perhaps you might need to hear the words of The Keep Going Song. I know that I did.

Everyone is familiar with advent calendars, but why not try something a little different this year? Why not try a 'reverse advent calendar'? Reverse advent cal...endars work by you filling them every day with items of food or new toiletries (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, body wash, socks) that can then be taken to a food bank or charity in order to help those less fortunate who are struggling at Christmas time. It helps us all to see the bigger picture and gives us a daily reminder of the importance of helping others. RLC members will begin collecting items on November 29th and will continue until the drop off date of December 19th when we will have helpers outside the church to collect your donations to distribute to the food bank or a local shelter. Every little bit helps someone in need. See more

We were curious to see what some of the congregation has been doing during periods of isolation. Audrey says her sewing machine has been getting a workout. "...I've been making scrub caps for the nurses at the Heart Institute and have made well over 150 face masks - I stopped counting at 125. Slowly, but slowly my fabric stash is decreasing in size. Now, if I could just keep it that way! I also serged 55 fleece hats with the Ottawa Home Economics Association - we've given away over 500 fleece hats to various centres to help keep Ottawans warm this winter." "I've also contributed baking to Centre 507 chili luncheon that the churches put on and am looking forward baking for the next chili luncheon. I love to bake and it's better for all concerned to give it to people who enjoy home baked goodies instead of seeing it added to my hips!" See more

Wednesday is Remembrance Day, when we honour those who fought for our country. We encourage you to add your own pictures and memories to our Wednesday post.

A prayer to guide us back to school! "No feeling is too big for God's love and compassion." AMEN! Thank you Rev. Christie Morrow-Wolfe.
