FLARE UPS Flare ups will happen, especially on your rehab journey. Not to worry, these flare ups are caused by a new stress to your system. Whether it is physical activity, or a new form of treatment. Here are a few ways to combat your flare ups when they happen: ... + use heat or ice when necessary + keep moving, the more time you stay in one position, the more stiff you will become + pace yourself or break up exercises/treatments + complete exercises given to you by your therapist + take pain relievers as prescribed by your doctor + rest if you absolutely need it Remember, flare ups will pass, sometimes it just takes a bit of patience. ______________________________________________ #chiropractor #physiotherapy #prehab #rehab #yqr #fitness #mobility #injuryprevention #health #wellness #massagetherapy #movementismedicine #crossfit #saskfit #exercise #nutrition #saskatchewan #yqr #functionaltraining #livelifenow #supportlocal See more

BOOST YOUR IMMUNITY Although having a superb immune system will not prevent you from being infected with COVID-19, taking care of your health will prevent life-long diseases or the severity of symptoms related to the coronavirus. In order to boost your immunity, you need look at all areas, rather than just one or two. ... You may have heard of several of these keys to boosting your immunity before, however, we are diving in and looking at them a bit closer. + Are you exercising at least 30 mins/day, 5 days/week? + Have you stopped smoking and vaping? + Are you a binge drinker? Did you know moderation means 1-2 drinks only + Take a look at your life, find your stressful triggers. Can you take those triggers out of your life? If not, what can you do to reduce those levels? High stress could mean high blood pressure which has life-long effects. + Are you getting enough sleep? 6-9 hours of sleep is the normal range of sleep for most individuals. Depending on your age this may differ. Does your sleeping position cause you pain the next day? Look at ways to modify your sleeping position. + Are you drinking enough water? On average, men should be drinking 3.7 litres of water a day, whereas women should be drinking 2.7 litres. + How are you fuelling your body? Are you getting enough/too much of one macronutrient? If you eat a well balanced diet, you should be getting enough vitamins in your diet, however make sure you have enough zinc, selenium, iron, copper, folic acid, and vitamins A, B6, C, and E. ______________________________________________ #chiropractor #physiotherapy #prehab #rehab #yqr #fitness #mobility #injuryprevention #health #wellness #massagetherapy #movementismedicine #crossfit #saskfit #exercise #nutrition #saskatchewan #yqr #functionaltraining #livelifenow #supportlocal See more

Posted @withregram @kaileehondrosrd Does anyone else forgot to take their vitamin D? This is what my phone looks like every morning to help me remember. It’s that time of the year where the sun disappears and along with it all it’s vitamin D and warmth. Even though some days it may feel sunny, the sun is too far away for our bodies to produce any vitamin D. Vitamin D is a key player in keeping our bones strong but also plays a large role in our mood and cognitive health. ... Vitamin D is one nutrient that is really hard to meet our needs through our diet and so it is important to discuss with your healthcare professional about fitting a supplement into your daily routine. #vitamind #dietitian #dietitianapproved #health #healthylifestyle #nutrition #supplements

FUNCTIONAL DESK POSITIONS We live in a very technological and sedentary world, where most of the world revolves around desk jobs. Did you know that the average person sits for 21 hours a day?! That is 87% of your day!... Several injuries that we see are caused by weaknesses caused by long durations of sitting and improper recruitment of muscles. Thanks to @thereadystate, we have shown above some functional positions for sitting that improve muscle activation and posture. Things to keep in mind when keeping functional while being desk bound: + stand or sit with flat feet/no high heels + take movement/ mobility breaks + continue to shift positions + keep in mind the 90/90/90 rule + use foot bar/stool when standing For some more reading on kicking your bad desk habits, check out the Deskbound link in our bio! ______________________________________________ #chiropractic #chiropractor #physio #physiotherapy #prehab #rehab #yqr #chiro #fitness #mobility #injuryprevention #health #wellness #massage #massagetherapy #movementismedicine #crossfit #gym #exercise #manualtherapy #strengthtraining #nutrition #saskatchewan #yqr #functionaltraining #staplefordhealthandrehab #livelifenow #supportlocal #occupationaltherapy #speechpathology See more
