Did you know that Voyageurs of the fur trade used the sash as a belt to hold coats closed and it also served as a tow rope, towel, and even a sewing kit? The Métis Nation of Alberta identifies and explains the importance of Métis cultural items on their website. http://albertametis.com/culture/cultural-items/
The NLC Students' Association is raffling off a shed and a playhouse that were made by our very own Carpenter students. Tickets will be on sale at the Slave Lake Craft Show on November 21/22.

We often hear that it takes a community to raise a child we take this to the next level when we say it takes a community to run a Social Work Diploma program this is so true! Thanks to Erica Jagodzinsky, Manager at WJS, who got the ball rolling for the Social Work second year Family class. Danielle Nahamko, Alexa Hendricks, Jackie Deley, and Cecelia Alook, who joined two classes to share their working experience with families, and to mentor our students. Randey Ferster, D...irector of WJS, added to our student’s knowledge by joining live sessions to share his expertise on organizations, working with communities, programming, planning, and all the particulars students need to begin their projects for their Communities and Organizations Social Work Class. We are always aware how busy these agencies are and we continue to be very grateful that we are working together to graduate knowledgeable social workers into the field. WJS also supports our students by mentoring them through their practicums each year, and by hiring them in the field of Social Work. This community partnership has been evident for many years, and we continue to be very grateful for agencies like WJS Canada. Thank you, Chantal Tkach (Instructor Social Work) and the Social Work Diploma Program, Northern Lakes College See more
