Through the pandemic we have been fortunate to be featured in articles like this one, on platforms like #shoplocalmb, and supported by amazing organizations like the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and Travel Manitoba. It has been heartbreaking to watch business owners just like us forced to close their doors on their lives work. The last 10 months have been the challenge of a lifetime, but we are grateful to have learned so much through it all and to have the opportunity to... continue to grow and push forward. So what can you even do in Clear Lake Country right now anyways?! PART 2 We loved seeing the response to the wintertime agenda we posted yesterday so we thought we would post some more of our favourite winter adventures for you! Sleep in, wake up late and grab a latte to go! Head outside for a brisk walk from Wasagaming down the lakeshore walk towards Deep Bay. There is a path that runs from the east end of the main beach (across from the Trading Post) all the way to... Deep Bay. You will find incredible views and a series of incredible, meandering hidden staircases that lead from the path up to the cottage area. This is approximately a 3k walk one way, so you might want to take a snack with you and enjoy it when you reach beautiful Deep Bay. Head back to Lakehouse and order breakfast for room service. The avocado toast is amazing, or if you have a little bit of a sweet tooth try the carrot cake pancakes! After breakfast head to Friends of Riding Mountain National Park in the townsite and rent a couple of fat bikes! Give them a call ahead of time and they will arrange curb side pickup for you. Hop on your bikes and head out on the surface of Clear Lake, or through the Wasagaming Campground for a fun winter bike ride. After your fat biking adventure, grab a quick nap or relax and read a great book in your cozy room. If you are still stuffed from breakfast and not quite ready for a full meal Home Hardware in nearby Onanole has a great selection of snacks or the co-op in Erickson is a great spot for picking up picnic essentials. For dinner, order your favourite burgers and a selection of craft beers for take out! Dress warm, and head out to ‘Glen Beag’ a local favourite place for a bonfire and an incredible view of frozen Clear Lake. This hidden spot can be found by staying on the road that leads past the Clear Lake Golf Course and the wishing well. Stay on this road and you will find it! Enjoy listening to the fire crackling and the ice shifting as the stars twinkle above. Head back to Lakehouse and prepare for the best sleep EVER. The fresh prairie mountain air is good for your body and soul and will leave you feeling the best kind of tired, and fulfilled! _________________________ Remember, Lakehouse continues to offer contactless concierge service, contactless check in and check out, and contactless room service. 2 nights ago as we began to process what another code red closure would mean for Lakehouse the ice on Clear Lake froze clear. The timeliness of it struck me. 7 years ago, the same thing happened, inspiring us to consider what it might mean to create a 4 season offer for travellers to RMNPC. Fish could be seen swimming below the ice, and people flocked to RMNPC to see this rare phenomenon. The clear ice was soon covered with snow but it left with it the glimmer in our ...hearts and minds of what might be possible for winter tourism and our community. Today, while we will be adjusting our hours and our offer to respect the code red restrictions imposed on us and other small business across the province, we will continue to push forward. Beginning on Monday November 16th Lakehouse will be open Friday through Sunday only. This includes both the Hotel and Restaurant. Restaurant hours will be: Friday 9am through 9pm Saturday 9am through 9pm Sunday 9am through 9pm While small businesses are responsible for less than .7 percent of the cases across our country we want to be a part of the solution, not the problem. The restaurant will be available for room service, take out or curb side pickup. Check in will continue to be contactless and our contactless concierge service will be available for the duration of your stay. The decision to reduce our hours was not made lightly. This resulted in the lay off of 20 of our team members, people who are like family to us. These people have families that depend on them, and lives that will be impacted by this choice.
