STC- Peterborough 12.02.2021

As 2020 comes to an end it makes us reflect on what has come of this year I've learned that the people that matter most will be there virtually no matter what. I've learned that our kids adapt to change pretty quickly and are rather resilient.... Most importantly I've learned to enjoy the small moments because as much as it may seem like a burden sometimes, they will look back and remember what 2020 brought them. Hold your family close tonight and bring 2021 in with a mindset of new adventures and new challenges. We aren't in the clear yet but we are all in this together What has 2020 taught you? Let us know in the comments below

Whether you drive for STC, Hertz, Elgie, Elliott, Parkview, Parkview Simcoe or Leuschen, this message is for you. It is to thank you for your trust in us to keep you safe, and your courage to be on the front line of our education system. In fact, this message is for all of us. Because together, we are the school bus company that does more for student safety than anyone else. As everyone has said before me, this is the strangest year ever in student transportation. Our brand n...ew people may not know anything different but this year is so different - it is like everyone is new. What’s different? - Revised route times - Seating plans - Cleaning and disinfecting regimes - Masks and PPE However, and what many of us cling to, is that the most fundamental elements of what we do are still the same. Unsurprisingly, it is the most important stuff - Children needing an education, needing socialization, even needing to get away from their parents after months at home - You provide all the familiar, and all the new, with the highest level of care in all of passenger transportation - You still know what students have special needs and what their triggers are - You still know who gets off at each stop - You still know which students need to be met and by whom Together, we operate the country’s largest public transit system, and do so with the highest level of care. So as all of us make our way through these uncertain times, I thank you for remaining steadfast in the basic concepts that matter most. Be healthy, be safe, and love your kids Thanks Chris See more

PLEASE WATCH FOR STUDENTS AND SCHOOL BUSSES Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding drivers that students are back in school and will be boarding and exit...ing school busses. Failing to stop for a school bus with its overhead red signal-lights flashing and safety arm out will face fines of $490.00 and receive 6 demerit points. If students are walking to school please use and obey your crossing guard at intersections. Drivers remember where a school crossing guard displays a crossing stop sign you shall stop before reaching the crossing and remain stopped until all persons, including the school crossing guard, have cleared the roadway and it is safe to proceed. Failing to obey this law can result in a fine of $365.00 and 4 demerit points. Let's make this school year a safe and successful year.

The OPP want to remind motorists that school buses are returning to area roads very soon. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution due to the expected increase... in pedestrians, cyclists and school buses, and to give themselves extra commuting time. Students will no doubt be excited and may forget some of the safety rules required for safe travels. OPP officers will be watching for drivers who disobey traffic laws in relation to school bus safety. A zero tolerance approach will be taken. In accordance with the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), motorists encountering a stopped school bus, that has its safety lights and equipment activated, must stop before reaching the bus and shall not proceed until the bus moves or the safety lights and equipment have been deactivated. This applies whether you are meeting or following a school bus, and includes multi-lane roads. The only exception is when driving on a road with a median - traffic coming from the opposite direction is not required to stop. Vehicle owners can be charged if their vehicle illegally passes a stopped school bus, even if they weren't driving. The fine for failing to stop for a school bus is $400 to $2000 and 6 demerit points for the first offence. Subsequent offences carry a fine between $1000 and $4000, six demerit points and possible jail time (up to six months). Drivers should also be prepared to yield to student pedestrians and cyclists. Parents of students who will be walking or cycling to school are encouraged to speak with their children about the rules of the road that apply to them.

The Ontario Government announced today it's plan to open schools in September. Elementary School students (up to grade 8) will be returning as normal, as will most of the High School Students in the boards around our area.

The spread of COVID-19 in long-term care homes has seen severe impacts from the illness, representing nearly one-fourth of all cases in the province of Ontario,... Canada. Our Parkview Transit operation in Newmarket, Ontario, was honoured to be the Canadian Military's first choice when seeking a partner to provide vehicles for its COVID-19 efforts in supporting care to long-term care residents, thanks to our longstanding relationship with the Canadian forces. #STAFamily #ParkviewTransit #ParkviewSimcoe #Newmarket #Ontario #community #partnership #honour

Dad. His title may be short, but his influence is strong. He is the one who helps sons grow into respectable men, the one who teaches daughters to set their standards high. He is a partner in the home, a confidant, a protector, his child's biggest fan, a friend. ... Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there. #STAFamily #fathersday2020
