From lavender to echinacea, monarda to milkweed, our butterfly garden has become a pollinator’s paradise this time of year

Our lavender par terre and kitchen garden look as lush as ever! For the gardeners out there.... the obelisk is climbing with honeysuckle and clematis. The red cabbage is bordered with Hidcote - our darkest lavender variety. This year we’re also trying to grow bok choy, okra, carrots, celery and pole beans. Oh, and our jasmine plants smell gorgeous this time of year!

OPENING UPDATE! We are pleased to announce our shop and gardens will open this Wednesday, June 10th. This season, we will offer an outdoor shopping experience where shoppers can place and pick-up orders from the garden. Until the risk of Covid-19 decreases, there will be no seating areas offered, however, people are welcome to bring their own folding chairs or blankets! We are also reducing our hours to 11-5 Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday 12-4. We kindly request that our ...visitors wear a mask if they have one. Additionally, we ask visitors practice social distancing of two meters and refrain from touching surfaces or merchandise. We prefer no cash and ask customers to be prepared to pay via debit or credit card. We will continue to offer online sales with convenient curb-side pickup and shipping options throughout the summer. REOPENING UPDATE: The past couple years have presented us with many challenges. Last year, we experienced significant die back on our plants. To our amazement, the lavender bounced back miraculously this year - only now, no ones here to enjoy it. With that being said, we are working very hard trying to prepare a safe opening in time for this year’s bloom!!

After an aggressive prune, the lavender is staring to green up beautifully Many flower spikes are already shooting up and plenty more should be popping up soon The bloom will be late this year but we’ll keep you all updated as the season progresses!! The joy of farming is that there’s always challenges for us to work through. After growing lavender for fifteen years, one would think we would have it all figured out! This time of year, our plants are normally full of lush green growth with immature spikes beginning to emerge, but this year, after a wet fall combined with freezing and thawing winter temperatures, many of our plants are showing signs of damage. We are speaking with lavender growers across Ontario and to m...any of our gardening friends who are experiencing similar damage. It is with sheer grit and determination that we are working very hard to carefully hand-prune all of our thousands of plants and monitor them closely. With the warm sun in the last few days, we have been very encouraged to see greening in the crown (base) of our plants. Given all that our plants have been through this year, we are unable to predict the bloom period at the moment. Elsewhere around the farm, we are also very busy with replanting efforts, expanding our butterfly garden, and adding new gardens. We are grateful for all the support and encouragement we have received and thank you for your understanding. We will continue to provide updates as our season progresses. See more

If you plan on visiting our farm this weekend, June 16 or 17 via Quaker road, you’ll want to adjust your route to avoid the Great Lakes International Air Show road closures. If you are coming from the west side of Quaker, we recommend taking Centennial south to John Wise and then east along John Wise to Quaker, where you can proceed as normal. If coming from the east of Quaker, you can travel south on Springwater and then west on John Wise to Quaker. Hope to see you there:)

Our Lavender Rose Soap is a hand-crafted, cold-pressed soap, made here at our farm in small batches, with olive oil, and shea butter to provide a gentle and nourishing cleanse. This bar is available in store only.

We're trying something new this year, pruning each plant back by 1/3 of the new growth (into a dome shape). We are also pruning now (after harvest, but before September) rather than in spring. We will keep you lavender growers out there posted on the results.
