SHS is proud to announce that The Sterling Hall School’s Terry Fox School Run collected $38,132.82 for cancer research! The Terry Fox Foundation has extended its heartfelt thanks for your generosity and support in this very challenging year. Terry’s message of hope lives on and remains strong!
We just finished our first Friday Assembly of 2021! Thank you to the boys and teachers and also Mrs. Taylor and Mr. Parsons for the nice welcome back.
Thank you to Dr. Campbell for hosting our third of many workshops at SHS. Dr. Campbell is helping us to dive deeper into our growth and learning as individuals, as an organization and as a community, regarding Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI). The learning continues! The PA will also be hosting two new Dr. Campbell workshops through their Parent Education Program. Parents, please visit the PA page on the portal to learn more and to sign up for the January 19 and February 9 "Teachable Moments" Workshops with Dr. Campbell.
Our SHS Boys are happy to be back - the smiles on the faces of our Grade 1's say it all!
Thank you to Old Boy, David Merrithew from the Canadian Armed Forces for taking the time to virtually meet with our classes for a Remembrance Day conversation. What a wonderful and relevant experience for our boys!
Today we offered thanks to the countless brave men and women, past and present, during our virtual Remembrance Day Service. This year's Service featured music, letters to soldiers, artwork and poems created by our boys. We collectively showed our respect to those who have served - and are serving now - in times of war and peace, for the ultimate sacrifice they have made.
Our New Student Council motto for the year is "Change is new and different. Change is good." Such great insight and relevance at this time from our Prefects. You are right boys, "change doesn't have to be bad, it allows us to see things from a different perspective and has shown us how courageous and resilient we truly are."
Our SHS Teachers had an opportunity to prove they aren't all work and no play! After school this week, they decompressed with a few rounds of faculty/staff-only 9-Square In The Air! It may have been to simply test out a new game purchased for the boys...but their enthusiasm and skill made it look like an Olympic sport!
Congratulations to all the participants in our Halloween Pumpkin carving contest. Our community enjoyed seeing your spirited creativity showcased in our Friday Assembly today! A special shout out to Peter Z - our big winner!
