Proteins are at the very crux of yeast cell structure. Without amino acids there would be no protein and no yeast cellular structures. https://stillontap.ca/
We hear from customers and read on the blogs about what are yeast nutrients and what can be used. If you have been making wine or distilling you have probably heard about yeast nutrients. A lot of research has been done on the effect of nutrient additions to fermenting mashes, in which it has been made clear that proper yeast nutrient management improves the yeast performance, vitality and viability during fermentation. https://stillontap.ca/nutrients/
With Fall right around the corner, many distillers are wrapping up their outdoor season. We would like to hear from you on what has been your biggest success story?

We are thinking of having a spur of the moment Labour Day Sale this weekend. What product should we put a sale on? Now is your time to get a deal if you have been looking at one of our products.
When it comes to aging your spirts, lets face it, barrels are expensive. There have always been many questions and comments about the use of wood chips and making your own toasted wood chips to age your spirits. Here is another great article from Hendre Barnard on the topic "Is smoking wood chips suitable for wooding spirits"... https://stillontap.ca/wood-chips/ https://stillontap.ca/wood-chips/
Have you ever had a stuck fermentation? Here is an article from Hendre from Still on Tap on how to help. https://stillontap.ca/how-to-re-start-a-stuck-fermentation/
Hello distillers. Here is a photo of our first Home Distiller Charcoal Filter we just sold to a customer in New Zealand. It looks awesome! To purchase one follow this link https://stillontap.ca//acc/home-distiller-charcoal-filter/
Hello distillers, As promised I'm following up on my promise for a post on the wormwood harvest at Great Gido's Homebrew distillery. I was able to connect with owner/distiller Mark Holinaty to discuss how their harvest was this year and also discussed how they harvest and process wormwood for absinthe. I hope you enjoy the article as much as I did learning about this new process.... https://stillontap.ca/wormwood-harvest/ See more
As we don't share our author Hendre Barnards problem of South Africa's alcohol ban and high fruit prices here in North America, we do love our rum. Here is another great article from Hendre on How to make Rum. Making good Rum is not quick and easy. This is a complex process as he lays out. https://stillontap.ca/how-to-make-rum/
I'm taking a break from glamping to update the Still on Tap blog. I had a great opportunity to visit with Colin Schmidt, owner of Last Mountain Distillery for a tour of his distillery and an interview. It felt more like a couple of brewers talking up a storm than an interview. Colin was an excellent host. Please take a moment while you are distilling or on your own glamping trip to read our article on Saskatchewan's first Craft Distillery and where they are now.... Happy Distilling, Still on Tap https://stillontap.ca/last-mountain-distillery-progress-on/

We are going to start selling Home Distilling Charcoal Filters and 25KG bags of Coconut activated charcoal on our site www.StillOnTap.ca soon. We just got the engineer drawings from our manufacturer on the filter last night. The filter is a 2" X 47" SS304 tube with 2" tri-clams on the top and bottom holding perforated plates on both ends. The top of the pipe includes a 4" wide funnel, and the bottom can be tri-clamped to another vessel for collection.
Sorry for the lack of posts the last couple of weeks. We were busy setting up our seasonal campsite, then I ended up getting a tooth pulled, for which I've been fighting an infection for the last week and a half. But we got our lights up and recovered a lot of new space from the over growth by the creek with the help of some good friends. No tree's were harmed in this project. We attached rubber bungie cords around the trees as belt to hold the airline cable tight. It w...as a bit of work, but it doesn't damage the trees. Now to enjoy our winter's work this summer.
Since it is summer time, and Rum is a great summer cocktail, here is a great article from Hendre' Barnard on the Components of a true Rum. https://stillontap.ca/the-components-of-a-true-rum/
