Our first day back after Christmas was spent making tie blankets Thank you for your donation of fabric Esther. The children put it to great use!

Getting into the festive spirit we made Benne Cakes in honor of Kwanzaa that takes place between December 26 to January 1. Benne cakes originate from West Africa and is made from sesame seeds. Benne means sesame seed and it is considered good luck therefore, we tried some good luck.

Last week Clay for Kids came for a visit and showed us how to work with glass to make snowman sun catchers. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Family Appreciation dinner night later this evening. A big thank you to one of our parents Keri Funnelle for cooking up some chili for us.

Happy Thanksgiving Monday. Hope you are all enjoying your weekend with the ones you love. Last week St. Luke's OSC shared a meal prior to the long weekend showcasing a bit of the German culture. We spent the day making pretzels learning it takes patience to make the perfect roll. The finished product was paired with sausage, sauerkraut and a glass of root beer. A huge thank you - Danke to Monika Hamilton for allowing us to borrow her beautiful dress and for the translation and pronunciation of a few words and phrases we shared with the children. Being that it feels so cold out now and a month ago we enjoyed the warmth of August we wanted to share our float submission for the Annual Trail Days Parade in this great community of South Cooking Lake. This all couldn't of been possible without the assistance of our families that support our program!

30 degrees this afternoon. What a perfect day to set up the pool and enjoy after a busy day at school! Love these summertime temps!

It's been another great summer partnering with the Strathcona County Library and the Bookmobile for their annual summer reading program. We had so much fun earning our buttons each week. We so so lucky to have this service provided to our rural area. In two weeks time the bookmobile will return for monthly visits to visit our preschool program.
