As a reminder, St. Mesrob Armenian Church of Ottawa is pleased to announce that our next Divine liturgy will be this Sunday, November 8 at 5:00 pm at Saint Mark's Anglican Church (1606 Fisher Avenue in Nepean). All parishioners are invited to attend, while socializing safely and respecting physical distancing measures. We are limited to a maximum of 50 participants for an indoors religious activity. All parishioners interested in attending the liturgy are asked to contact th...e following members of the Parish Council to register and indicate how many in the party will be attending: Nelly Antranikian [email protected] Missac Dokmajian (613) 863-2258 2) All parishioners over the age of five (5) years old must wear a mask. Please bring your masks with you, although the Parish Council will have a limited number of non-medical masks available. 3) You will notice some small changes to the regular liturgy: the Kiss of peace (voghtchiune) will not be administered (parishioners are asked to avoid giving handshakes and hugs); the collection tray will NOT be passed (parishioners are asked to make their offering in the hallway). 4) No food or drink will be served after the service. 5) A ceremony for the Repose of souls (hokéhankist) will be held immediately after the liturgy, to commemorate our fallen soldiers and civilians in Artsakh. If any member of the community would like to request a hokéhankist for their loved ones, please contact the members of the Parish Council. We hope to see you there on Sunday. Harissa, Approx Prepping and Cooking Time ...........6-8hrs!!! .......... would be an understatement!

Harissa, a rustic Armenian dish, often prepared on Feast Days; The history of this dish goes back up to ancient times and the stories differ. The name of Harissa translated from Armenian would be Stir it. The extremely long cooking process is an essential part of the harissa tradition. Like other ritual dishes, the time taken for preparation is part of its cherished value. The dish is traditionally served on Easter day, or in our case it would have been to celebrate #khatchverads The Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

With the help and support of our dedicated volunteers and members of the Parish, our fundraising came to fruition this morning. We were able to raise over a $1,000+ from sales of #Harissa to help with the renovations of #HyeDoun .
