Message from the Berry Road Food Co-op: Dear Members and Supporters of the Berry Road Food Co-op: We hope that everyone is coping well with this COVID-19 pandemic, especially with the second wave that is upon us. As everyone can appreciate this pandemic has caused unforeseen delays in the progress of the Co-op. ... As many of you may know, several on the Board have been working on the Co-op project for close to five years. We have been met with numerous financial challenges along the way, which is not unusual for not-for-profit start-ups, but with determination and perseverance, we eventually resolved them. Since March 2020, the current pandemic, and new financial challenges have unfortunately delayed the opening of the Co-op again. All summer and into this fall, we have been continuing to work to overcome these obstacles, and recent events have been encouraging, as the Board is close to securing a final construction loan so we can compete construction of the Co-op. Depending on the pandemic, especially now with Toronto classified as a Red Zone, we hope to be able to open the store in the spring of 2021. We will continue our hard efforts and countless hours of work to achieve the goal that we have been working on for these five years, that being the opening of the Berry Road Food Co-op. We thank everyone, including our staff and volunteers, for their continued support and look forward to the opening of the Co-op in the near future.
