How is a wedding designer supposed to feel when her cousin/lifelong best friend starts to plan her wedding? Excited, inspired, super happyand in my case, also stressed lol! Roberta and Fernando were originally going to have about 150 people at the Winnipeg Art Gallery with a ceremony at her parents’ farm. Since Fer is from Mexico, and his family lives there, obviously that meant major changes to the wedding plans. They still wanted to get married, but they pivoted: everythi...ng would now be on the farm just outside of Stonewall, and since his family couldn’t be there, the guest list would be massively reduced to the bare minimum: the bride’s parents and siblings, my sister and myself, and the groom’s best man and his wife. There are few things I love more than a big old bucket of blooms grown right here in Manitoba soil. The colour. The texture. The uniqueness. There are endless reasons to love locally grown flowers. Every wedding season, I aim to use as many locally grown flowers as possible. And every week when I get my delivery, I get excited. It’s a different kind of excitement than I get when I pick up flowers at the wholesaler (which is still exciting), and I’m not entirely sure I can ex...plain to you whybut I’ll try. Hop on over to the blog today to see why I love locally grown so much! https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//why-i-love-using-local
Today on the blog: 2021 and 2022 wedding trends! The ways we can gather and celebrate have changed, and wedding trends are changing right along with it. As a result, the way we think about the atmosphere of our weddings has changed. And when it comes to wedding trends, this looks a lot more like throwing out the rule book and ignoring what everyone else is doing, and instead focusing on how we want ourselves and our guests to feel and experience our weddings.... https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//2021-and-2022-wedding-

Typically, I write a year in review type of blog post every year. I've been dreading it this year. I know a lot of good things have happened in 2020 and I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of the weddings that did go ahead, but with the way the virus has overwhelmed Manitoba this fall, it’s feeling harder and harder to focus on that light. THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED. I got mad. ... If you want to read a little more, head on over to my blog today. https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//what-ive-learned-in-20
Rich, luxurious while still approachable, warm, and overloaded with delicious food, there’s probably nothing that I would change about this gorgeous winter wedding. The temperature wasn’t even that cold! Read on for more inspiration on throwing a killer winter wedding here in Winnipeg. https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//garden-inspired-winter
Kristin and Sam’s organic tent wedding on his family’s private estate was a MAJOR highlight of 2020 for me! Their date was originally scheduled for late June, but they pushed it back into late August with a backup date on the calendar for 2021, as well. They ended up deciding to just go forward in August with as large of a guest list as they would be allowed to, and it turned out that it was scheduled for the perfect time, in that summertime covid lull. https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//organic-tent-wedding-p
Nicole and Colin’s backyard tent wedding was a really special one for me, because it was my first full wedding post-Covid. They were originally planning for 250+ guests at a large venue, but they were not interested in postponing. One month beforehand, they cut the guest list to about 35 people, and changed the plans to host both the ceremony and reception in Colin’s parents’ backyard in La Broquerie. Nicole gave me total flexibility with the flowers, and basically just told me to surprise her. I decided on a palette of warm neutrals and was then surprised when I walked into the cooler at the wholesaler that week and found some eye-catching peach tones that I wanted to use and I think they worked perfectly! https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//elegant-backyard-tent-
It’s incredibly flattering to be sought out by fellow members of the wedding industry vendor community for their own weddings. When Jessica of Jessica Kmiec Artistry reached out to have me design the florals for her effortless, nature-inspired wedding at St Norbert Arts Centre (in 2019), I was so excited. Throughout the planning process, I learned that Jessica has exquisite style and an incredible eye for detail. She’s done my makeup many times (including for my maternity photos) and she’s incredibly talented, so I wasn’t surprised that she was meticulous. As you can see, the end result was worth the work and Izabela’s photos are completely breathtaking. The portraits are just incredible, so I included a few more than I usually do and I hope you enjoy! https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//effortless-nature-insp

2020 has been a weird year for weddings, and sometimes it seems like it’s not even worth talking about anymore. That’s exactly why I’m starting this new blog series, because I want to celebrate our Covid weddings and, at the same time, inspire you with ideas on how you can make sure that Covid-19 doesn’t define your wedding! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing images and stories from the weddings of couples who chose to take 2020 and Covid-19 head-on, changing and chan...ging and changing their wedding plans to ultimately allow them to celebrate when and how they best saw fit. Today we're starting with Paula and Steve, who decided to have a small elopement in Birds Hill Park on their original wedding date, and will be following it up with a party next summer! https://www.stonehouseweddings.com//covid-elopement-birds-
