COMPOSTING If you don't already compost, fall is a great time to start. Leaves are plentiful and make a terrific base layer. Compost provides nutrients AND impr...oves soil structure and moisture holding capacity by returnig organic matter to the soil. FYI, I do not turn the piles. Just add organic materials and some finished compost or soil to get the microbes started (no meat or bones) and wait. My bins have wire mesh on top to allow the rain, moisture is necessary for a speedy result. See more
