It cannot be too strongly insisted on that every movement in fencing should have a purpose. There can be no greater mistake than to indulge in vague flourishes of the sword or movements made without any definite object. To do this is to be like a child who thumps the keys of a piano under the impression that it is playing. Fencing - Walter H Pollock, F C Grove, and Camille Prevost, Maître D’Armes (1890) #SunriseFC

Back in 2017, I went in on a crowdfund through Indiegogo for a newly designed HEMA mask. It’s by a company called Rearguard out of Croatia. Long story short, this mask was plagued with delay after delay. Everything from the suppliers to the design itself, etc. Today, while at work my wife texts me to say that a package arrived for me and lo and behold it finally arrived! First impressions are it’s really well made, perfect for rapier and sword and buckler fencing no problem. Has a solid 1600N bib, cool 3D mesh padding and can be fitted with a nape for back of the head protection. After so long thinking I wasn’t going to even get it, I’m happy its here and looks as good as promised. https://armingguild.com

Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity and so we ask ourselves: Will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved. The Wounded Achilles, 1825, by Filippo Albacini

As the summer pressed on, the Sun moved into his glorious house. Strong are his rays illuminating the path towards the sure way. As Monsieur L’abbat would advise, find the opening and thrust where you see light #SunriseFC
