The world is in such a mess. Democracy seems like an almost impossible goal for Hong Kong - and in the US the incumbent president seems determined to undermine the American democratic system. And then, of course, there's COVID... Not to mention innumerable other large and small tragedies going on all around the world. Is anyone else ready for 2020 to be done, and hoping with all your heart that 2021 will be a better year?

So many people are going to miss Alex Trebek. Their evenings just won't be the same without him. I never realized that he was Canadian, the son of an immigrant father. RIP, Alex.

I'm breaking out the bubbly because I am so relieved! Come January 20, maybe I can shed the anxiety that has been weighing me down for the past 4 years. As we watch the US election results roll slowly in, here's a reminder that - whatever happens in the end - the sun will continue to rise and create beauty in the world. (And wouldn't it be nice if humankind was more concerned with creating beauty, peace, joy and love rather than discord, hatred, and violence?)
