Life is meant to be enjoyed and it can actually be good for your body and mind to let go of routine every once in a while, especially with how crazy 2020 has been. When seasons change and life starts to get into more of a routine with work, school, kids, etc., it is a great time to make new goals and intentions and to get back into the swing of habit. As part of the USA Rice Canada(#ad #sponsored) ‘Think Rice’ campaign (5 different ways rice can be enjoyed on 5 different days...) I wrote a blog post to talk about why U.S.-grown rice is a healthy, affordable, and versatile pantry staple that I love to include into my family’s meal rotation several times a week (as well as provide you with an easy, delicious recipe below that I love). https://www.felicianewellhealth.com//how-usa-rice-can-help The post also includes 4 tips on that will help with getting back into a healthy routine, as well as this delicious recipe from riceinfo.com that the whole family loves and is great for lunch, dinner, leftovers any time of day really! What I love most about it is the delicious flavours with nutty, creamy, zesty, and spicy flavours/textures, what’s not to love? I also am a huge fan off the ‘fullness factor’ this bowl has. It has such a great balance of fibre, protein and healthy fats it is sure to keep you full, satisfied, and energized for a long period of time. Ingredients: Spicy Rice 1 Cup U.S. Brown Long Grain Rice Pinch of Salt 3/4 Cup Spicy Salsa Chickpeas 15oz Can Chickpeas Avocado Oil, Drizzled 1/2 Tsp Salt Black Pepper, To Taste Sunflower Cream: 1/2 Cup Sunflower Seeds, Roasted and Unsalted 1/2 Cup Water 2 Tbsp Olive Oil 1/4 of Lemon Fresh Lemon Juice 1 Clove Garlic 1 Tsp Salt Optional Accompaniments Avocado Slices Pumpkin Seeds *Of course, non-vegans can add a meat protein source of choice, if they prefer. I love, love, love how versatile USA Rice is. Make sure you visit their website riceinfo.com for many delicious recipes and ways rice can be incorporated into your lifestyle. Also check out my recent blog post for 4 ways to get back to a healthy routine as well as the full recipe! https://www.felicianewellhealth.com//how-usa-rice-can-help #USARiceCan #rice #RiceIsLife #usarice

Check the comments for the recipe! Who else looooves mushrooms? And carbs of course. What helps us eat smaller portions of carbs?Protein, fibre and healthy fats help satiate us, keep our blood sugars stable, and keep us full for longer. Don’t give up carbs, just make your meals more balanced! This recipe is from my high protein recipe ebook ... www.felicianewellhealth.com/shop

St. Francis Herb Farm is a trusted, Canadian family-owned brand with a holistic approach to making traditional herbal products for over 30 years. They also work in partnership with the university of Ottawa to ensure their products are backed by science, which as a registered dietitian is important to me. Fair warning: Some Herbs can taste bad. The best, most bio-available way to take a herb is through these liquid herbal extracts called tinctures. To make it easy and more palatable simply put it in a bit of water and drink it back for all the medicinal benefits in a shot glass is even easier. Or you can also add it to your smoothie, tea, or water bottle. @StFrancisHerbFarm #HerbHuggers #HerbObsessed #PlantMedicine #WholeHerb #Ambassador #partnership

Check out this article I was featured in in The Telegram. It discusses if breakfast is the most important meal of the day (hint: maybe not). It also discusses how to encourage kids to eat breakfast, and gives examples of what you might want to have or avoid for breakfast for optimal fullness and energy levels!

Do rules around food have you stressed out? You wouldn't be the only one! The diet culture had us brainwashed for so long into thinking complete restriction is key. Why? Because it works...short-term at least, until it is not sustainable anymore. and/or makes metabolism sluggish and yo-yo diet. Diet culture does not help people understand food and the nutrients they need to put in their body. It does not help people have a healthy relationship with food. It does not help peop...le have long-term success in achieving a healthy lifestyle where their body has enough fuel and nutrients for health and energy. I've been there before where I felt guilty for eating a cookie (and have worked with hundreds of clients who have been there too), so then you eat a whole row and 'start over tomorrow' or 'Monday'. But what if a healthy lifestyle actually included cake, pizza and wine? (Say whaaaa?!). But in a way where there is no guilt, and you tell yourself you CAN have something it actually makes you crave it less. As we go into the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, remember to let go of the food guilt. Enjoy your food and your time with family. One day is not going to affect things - just pick up the next day and get back to fuelling your body with what it needs to feel good and be healthy. Today and tomorrow I am offering 20% off all of my programs and services. My most popular programs are my 6-12 week programs which include a nutrition assessment, meal guide, and accountability check-ins for the length of the program to provide support, assess progress and review food journals, as well as unlimited messaging support.
