THE LIGHTS WILL GO ON!!! It's not the Mistletoe Magic we had originally planned and hoped for but the lights WILL go on at the Museum for Saturday December 12th from 5-10pm for Drive Thru viewing (and from 6-9pm on subsequent nights). YOU MUST STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE while viewing the Lights. Current public health orders require the site to be supervised when the lights are on to ensure compliance with restrictions. Please attend only with the permitted members of your household and do stay in your vehicle so we can keep the Lights shining and raise our spirits in this strange time that is 2020!

The Mistletoe Magic Christmas Light display at the Swan Valley Museum has been pushed back due to covid. At a meeting earlier tonight, the organizing committee... was forced to cancel the grand opening event that had been scheduled for next weekend. But the display itself will also remain closed for now. Current public health orders prevent outdoor gatherings of more than five people and public health officers had threatened to issue a ticket to the museum if more than five people attended the light display at one time. To operate the lights the museum would have to staff the gate and count individuals to ensure no more than five entered the property at one time. Additionally, if people lined up outside the gate to see the lights the museum could receive a ticket for that gathering. The committee agreed that the current rules simply aren't workable and the lights can't be turned on when it runs the risk of the museum being fined $5,000 at a time. The committee is asking those who have already decorated to leave their lights in place. A resolution was passed that will see the committee meet immediately should public health orders change with the intention of operating the lights as soon as possible. Organizers say the light display could likely be ready for visitors within 48 hours of such a change in public health orders, or if the province gives the display special permission to operate.

Hate to bring up snow... but very soon it will be time to decorate the Heritage Village at the Museum for Christmas. If your group was involved last year - we ...hope to have you back again. If you want to be involved for the first time this year - we have lots of options for you. Text Candace at 431-281-3202. We need groups to tackle buildings as well as individuals who want to be part of helping out with all sorts of things. The Mistletoe Magic at the Heritage Village WILL return this winter with or without Covid-19. We can't wait to share Christmas with you again this winter.
