Animals of the southwest: Little Brown Bat Bats use echolocation to navigate and find food as they fly, but they also have excellent eyesight. Large groups gather in the fall to mate. The females store the sperm until they ovulate in the spring. As you can see, we have occasional bat visitors at the museum. They usually stay a few days before they are on their way. These bats have been plagued by a disease called White Nose Syndrome that has killed thousands across North America, so we are lucky to have them!
