COVID Chronicles - StarDate: The 24837438th day in 2020.... . We have seemed to stumble upon a vortex in time. Things open. Things close. Things open again. Then they close again. People come out of their houses. Then stay in their houses. Strangely the children seem immune to this time vortex. And an abundance of dogs has seemed to blanket the City. The only way forward seems to be with ample amounts of caffeine, masks made of cloth-like material and aimless walks in any direction but towards other human beings. Happy Saturday!

@kraftpeanutbutter_ca posted this in May, and the message is still the same as we move back into Stage Two as of tomorrow. We are open, we are excited to serve you, and although we have to shut down seating temporarily, it’ll be ready to go when Toronto gets everything back under control!. . Again, THANK YOU EVERYONE (and @kraftpeanutbutter_ca) for supporting us day after day. I, and probably all small biz owners, think daily about how thankful we are for our supporters, and how the community has become more like family through this all.

Meet some of our autumn fave teas! Indoor Seating is Back! We have designed, built, and installed barriers for safe indoor seating. (They even roll up to accommodate a table of 4, when needed!) Yes there are rules, yes it’s not perfect or ideal, but we feel great about our new space. We are adapting and choosing to be positive and believe that our community support will continue, as the weather may become less on our side. Please come check out our new arrangement! Bring on autumn!

Gluten-Free AND vegan?! It’s true, we (and by ‘we’ I mean Momma E) has updated our chocolate macaroon recipe and now it’s not only GF, but vegan! And has kept its same delish, intensely chocolately, nostalgic flavour! Perfect for a autumn morning, maybe with a maple spiced latte, or a chaider!

SEATING (and September) UPDATE: How is it end of August already? I guess time flies, even during a pandemic! We will be aiming to have seating in-house after Labour Day. There will be barriers between most tables, lots of room to continue takeout, as well as hand sanitizer available, and compulsory masks when not enjoying a bevy/snack. We will aim to make our space as enjoyable as possible, while also being safe for customers and staff.. . We will also ramp-up delivery again ...this autumn, so be on the lookout for announcements about free delivery for those participating in our coffee-subscription service, as well as add-ons such as tetra paks of oat milk and macadamia milk, to enjoy at home. We will also have items like eggs and butter when you’re in a pinch, and of course our usual delish home-baked goodies!. . We are aware that this pandemic is a marathon, not a race, and are preparing for an unpredictable next 6 months, so we hope you can continue to support us through take-out, delivery and soon, sitting-in on a cozy fall or winter afternoon. Next Tuesday, July 7th, masks and face coverings are mandatory, for staff and for customers. Yes it’s hot. Yes it’s humid. Thank You. Thank you for showing up in March and April when things were scary. Thank you for showing up when things were uncertain. Thank you to the secret $20 tipper every Saturday morning (we have yet to see you do it!) Thank you to the regular that supports us continually even when they’re no longer using the shop for early morning meetings, laptop open, at the shop five days/week. Thank you to the multiples of people that supported us with gift certificate purchases in th...ose first few indescribable weeks. Thank you to those that have allowed us to deliver our coffee and treats to you, so that you can support us from home as well (stay tuned for exciting news on this front btw!) Thank you to those that have still showed up EVERY day since March and literally kept my doors open and reminded me why I’m doing this through a pandemic. Thank you for spreading the word to friends to come and support so that we can continue to be a neighbourhood spot. I know we are not at the end of this tough time, and autumn may again bring tougher ones, but for now, for the last few months, and for the future months where I know I’ll see more of the same: Thank you. Look! Our tamper has a physical distancing circle! ...but seriously, the park is open this weekend (including its washrooms), with distancing circles to help us all be safe! It may seem ridiculous, but if this allows us to get fresh air safely, then so be it!. . So let’s have a safe, enjoyable weekend getting healthy vitamin D, while sipping delish Tampered bevies!! We can do it! As things open up, and the weather becomes gorgeous, let’s keep diligent so that the second peak is controlled and manageable. This way we won’t have to go back, and can continue to move forward with opening our city back up! . . Please keep spacing yourselves (like our coffee cups are exhibiting!) when you come to the shop and respecting our rules, while supporting us and other local businesses! Extending Hours! Starting Friday, the 15th, we will be open until 6pm. And hopefully soon after, even later! Thank you for continuing to be the reason we are able to open our doors everyday. And the reason we can rehire staff. And the reason we can start seeing the light at this very long tunnel. Our small, but mighty business is only mighty because of every one of you.

Happy Mother’s Day to Momma E, my mom, our baker, the shop’s glue, and a pseudo-mom to so many of my friends/staff/regulars! She has been such a survivor in her own life and during this time has shown me how to battle through these hard times day after day, while staying strong, happy and hopeful. Love you Momma.
