Contradiction @calvinklein : I wanted to get this mostly because of its name (and the bottle is rather cool too). Many reviews say it smells more "safe" than "contradictory". To my nose the opening is like a clean hotel lobby - pleasant yet impersonal and detached - then it settles down to something more cozy and cuddly. Even after having it for a few months, how I think of the fragrance remains aloof, like all those floating objects in the card #oracleofvisions . Do I like... it? Sure I guess? Do I want to wear it? Sure I guess? Do I want to keep it? Sure I guess? Do I think the name suits the scent? ...yeah I guess. . . I started buying perfumes for myself in high school. The very first one was Vanilla Musk, immediately followed by Vanilla Fields @cotyinc and I found the soft spiciness of V Fields to be enticing. To this day the "oriental soft/warm spicy" category is my favourite genre of scents; it has always made me feel comfortably confident. #arabie is a wearable travel. It opens and evolves slightly differently eachtime I wear it,depending on my body temp and/or the weather. I know the general direction it's going (to the Middle East), but it's almost like a "we'll get there and wing the rest" sort of trip. Sometimes it smells like a suq, a market with lots of caraway seeds and other dried spices & fruits. Sometimes it's a slightly dusty apothecary near a dune that carries with lots of traditional remedies. So...metimes it's a steamy hammam with mineral-rich clay and chunky olive oil soaps. The drydown, however, is always the same, and it's my final destination: a temple that burns exotically fragrant resins and incense. Of all the perfumes in my collection, this is the most puzzling and artistic.
