A little personal project from this summers reno. Having the cabinets the same color as the walls means some warm wood tones was needed to add visual interest and to tie into the flooring, so Rift sawn White oak tops were the perfect choice for its very straight grain. Also the perfect choice because it’s the trend lately and the shop has lots of off cuts

For those following along here’s another similar beam ceiling as to yesterday’s post from about 9-10 years ago. You can see the different look from a rustic home to a transitional style just by changing species of wood and omitting the T&G. These beams were constructed from plywood sides and a solid cherry bottom roughly 14’ long it’s important to eliminate splices and have a continuous grain whenever possible to make the beams look as close to solid timbers as possible.
