COVID-19 AND YOUR INCOME TAX REFUND! With the province responsibly instituting their state of emergency plan, we have been asked how this affects us, and more importantly, you. The governments directive on the state of emergency allows accounting offices to remain open as long as the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer are followed. As a result, we are not able to see you directly in our offices. However, we do remain open to serve you!... It is even more important to file your tax return in a timely fashion and not just to receive your refund as soon as possible. The Canada Revenue Agency administers a number of social programs and a delay in filing could interrupt your Child Tax Benefit and GST Credit both of which have been enhanced to pay additional monies as announced last Wednesday. These are the ways that you can access our service, so that we can help you with this important matter: 1) Our offices will have secure drop off services available that will allow us to practice social distancing. Please call our Parkway Office at 653-1234 or our North End office at 635-1234 and they will instruct you on how to proceed. 2) Tax information can also be submitted by email ([email protected]) or by text at (506) 639-7808. Our hours of operation starting Monday, March 23rd will be from 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday. We are here to help you in as safe and effective manner as possible. Please stay safe, have an awareness of social distancing in public and continue the practices of self-isolation and regular hand washing.

COVID19 & Filing Your Tax Return With Us Even though we have not directly been affected by COVID-19, we want both our staff and our clients to be comfortable when tax returns are being completed. As well, we want to make working with us as easy and convenient as possible, while providing options to help maintain our shared responsibility to reduce the spread of the virus. Our offices are open as usual and will continue to provide services to our clients as normal. We know t...he vast majority of Canadian tax return filers receive a refund and as a result, they want to file as soon as possible. Clients can drop off tax information which will allow us to prepare their return without their personal attendance in front of a tax preparer. If you are a prior client, we have access to most of the information we might require and if you are considering using us for the first time, most of what we need can be acquired with a signature. Of course, this method allows us to speak to you by phone, where we can complete any information that may be required that is not otherwise readily available. Clients can also access our services electronically. This is not a new method for us. In fact, every year we file returns for Canadians who live as far away as British Columbia. We collect the information by email, secure the authorization and our fee can be collected via INTERAC eTransfer or a credit card payment over the phone. If you would like to proceed in this manner, please call the office and we can assist you. We want the opportunity to serve you and we want to provide the service in a way that you feel both comfortable and safe. We appreciate your understanding and patience over the coming weeks. Just another example showing why people should use our service. I was speaking with a father in Rothesay who had prepared his university-aged daughters taxes using software. He told me that even though she didnt work last year, she had a refund because of the new carbon tax credit. This dad then informed me that if you live in Saint John or Moncton you dont get as much as others in the province. He was praising the software because otherwise he would have missed this addi...tional amount. Apparently, the software provided a message that he was entitled to claim the larger refund for his daughter, because she lived in the Valley. Except thats wrong. Legally, the additional amount is not payable if you live in what is referred to as the Saint John CMA, which extends to places like Upham and Grand Bay. This daughter might likely see a bill in her future.
