TBDHU strongly recommends that all residents avoid non-essential travel outside of Northwestern Ontario. If residents do travel for any reason, it is strongly recommended that: They STAY HOME for 14 days upon returning, especially when returning from high risk areas; They carefully monitor themselves for symptoms during this time; If symptoms develop, they must immediately self-isolate and arrange to get tested, other people in the home should also self-isolate; They shou...ld not interact with others outside of their household. This include not having visitors in their home. To read the full media release on updated travel recommendations, check out https://www.tbdhu.com//protecting-thunder-bay-district-tra
So now we're in the yellow zone. So real quick, the main changes to pay attention to as we navigate life in this zone include: Restaurants and bars, etc. must close at 12am; contact info is required for all seated patrons and no more than 6 can sit together. Liquor can only be sold/served from 9am-11pm and can't be consumed in establishments between 12am-9am. Contact info must be collected from all patrons in settings such as personal care services, meeting/event facil...ities, sport/fitness/recreation facilities, casinos, bingo halls, cinemas and performing arts facilities. In recreational facilities, patrons must be at least 3m apart where there are weights/weight machines and in exercise/fitness classes. As well, programs are limited to 10 people per room inside (25 people outside), and pre-registration or appointments are required. Remember: we all have a role to play in getting us back to green! We want to send a special shout out to our regions' seniors! Thank you for all you do to enrich our communities! May you be recognized and celebrated on this #NationalSeniorsDay! Comment below why the seniors in your life are worth celebrating today and every day!
Today many of our staff wore orange in honour of Orange Shirt Day. This event is meant to raise awareness about the impact of residential schools, to honour the healing journeys of survivors and their families, and to remember those who were lost. This work is part of our commitment to ongoing learning as an organization, as public health professionals, and as a community members. In reflecting on the importance of Orange Shirt Day, we are reminded of the words of Senator Mur...ray Sinclair: We should never forget, even once they have learned from it, because it's part of who we are. It's not just a part of who we are as survivors and children of survivors and relatives of survivors, it's part of who we are as a nation. And this nation must never forget what it once did to its most vulnerable people. #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters

We appreciate this plea to be COVID-kind from 99.9 The Bay regarding the most recent case and we hope you will too! Especially this lil' gem: "We ALL need to give ourselves a few seconds of pause before speaking our mind these days, because we’re speaking out of fear. When we speak out of fear instead of out of concern or kindness, all it does is spread more fear and hurt. So let’s lay off the keyboard troll stuff, shall we?" https://www.999thebay.ca//09/29/yes-it-sucks-so-lets-be-k/
