Our grade 4s had a blast today during their Hour of Code to celebrate Computer Science Week! We didn't really know what coding was when we started, but we learned block coding and worked together to solve problems and design our very own games! Overheard during our Hour of Code: "I'm good at this!" "I just programmed my own game!"... "I'm so excited!" Knowing how to build technology is just one of the essential 21st century learning skills our students are learning at TCA.

Reminder! Tonight

Trinity Christian Academy 08.09.2020

Our Grade 2 had a blast learning about the Acadian community Meteghan. As part of their focus, the class recreated Tintamarre. Tintamarre is an Acadian tradition of marching through one's community making noise with noisemakers, usually in celebration of National Acadian Day. The class marched through the hallways wearing the colours of the Acadian flag and making lots of noise. They were hard to miss! Thanks Grade 2s!!

The Grade 6/7 students completed a chocolate tasting today in Science class. The students are learning about how humans use plants for food and fibre. We explored how cocoa beans are grown, processed and created to make the delicious treat we get to enjoy! Dark chocolate was definitely not a favorite of most students but it was fun for students to be able to easily compare the different types of chocolate, order them, describe what they tasted and rank them from their favorite to their least favorite!

Trinity Christian Academy 28.05.2020

In October as a school we focused on being a God Worshiper. We learnt about the ways in which we can show worship and what it looks like each day. Mr. Dykema challenged each class to find a way to worship. The grade ones decided to pick kindergarten buddies and pray for that person each day!!! An AMAZING act of love Keep up the great work TCA

Reminder that it is Orange Shirt Day tomorrow September 30th! Wear an orange shirt instead of uniforms to school! Classes have been talking about the reason behind this initiative, and how we acknowledge the past trauma of Residential Schools in a step towards reconciliation. We have also talked lots about how EVERY CHILD MATTERS and needs to feel happy, safe, and loved at school. Have a discussion with your child(ren) about what they are learning. *If you are not wearing an orange shirt, uniforms are still required.* #orangeshirtday #everychildmatters

We are pleased to announce that TCA will be running our Pre-K program this year! Despite the COVID pandemic, we believe that it is important for children to have the opportunity to grow, play, and connect with other kids. We know that our program plays a vital role in your child's social and academic development and believe it is important for us to continue to provide this program to our community. We are planning on running a Mon/Wed morning, Tue/Thurs morning, and a Tue/...Thurs afternoon class. If those classes are filled, we will consider adding a fourth class on Monday/Wednesday afternoons. Space is filling quickly so if you know of anyone interested in the program encourage them to register as soon as possible as availability is determined on a first-come-first-serve basis. Students can be registered: - online at https://ghsd75.schoolengage.ca/#/login -by emailing a copy of the registration form to [email protected] -by dropping off a completed registration form at the school starting August 17th (registration forms can be found on TCA's website under the registration tab http://www.trinitychristianacademy.ca/Registration.php ).

Our theme for March is on being a Christ Reflector; where students show Christ's love in the actions of their lives. The Bible verse for March was Mathew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven." Post a picture or video of your child describing what it means to be a Christ-Reflector or reciting the memory verse. Students can also draw a picture of what it means to be a Christ Reflector. #tcastrathmore #tcatigers

Message From the Golden Hills School Division Board of Trustees The Motto of the Golden Hills School Division is Powering Hope and Possibilities and never has this been more evident than in the past two weeks. As we all struggle to deal with the challenges we are facing, the employees of Golden Hills have focussed their efforts on providing hope and possibilities for our students and parents. Our board would like to recognize and thank all of the people below who have work...ed together to ensure that our students can continue to learn and thrive in this unique situation. Our government, for recognizing that at this time it is essential to maintain and support our students and parents in all of the ways a school system can provide. Our central office team and our school administrators, who have provided exemplary leadership in charting a course for teachers and students that will allow them to continue their educational journey together. Our teachers and school support staff, who have risen to the challenge of prioritizing curriculum, developing lessons, tailoring instruction to meet individual students’ needs, and finding ways to sustain the valuable relationships they have established with their students. You are truly educational rock stars! Our caretaking and facilities staff, who have gone above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of our teachers and students in our buildings. Our bus drivers, who continue to serve the community by delivering food bank hampers. The amazing people who work behind the scenes to support our teachers, students, and parents (counselors, family resource workers, psychologists, and native liaison workers) who are also finding innovative ways to maintain that support in this challenging environment. And especially to our students and parents, thank you for your patience and support as we all adjust to this new normal. There are still lots of wrinkles to be worked out, but we are well on our way and Golden Hills will continue to provide Hope and Possibilities for all of our students. Sincerely The Golden Hills School Division Board of Trustees

I realize many of you and your kids are wondering what will happen with their school work. We are diligently working with the school division and the Ministry of Education on deciding the next steps. More information will be sent to parents as soon as it is available. With the cancellation of classes, we realize parents/guardians may want to pick up their children’s personal and educational items. We will use two phases to facilitate this. Phase one will be the pick up of p...ersonal items, while phase two will occur once a contingency plan for education is in place and this will be communicated out to parents/guardians next week. The pick up of personal items will occur beginning Tuesday, March 17th-Thursday, March 19th from 8:30-3:00 and will be organized by appointment. Appointments can be made by calling the office at (403) 361-9631. Please note that these appointments are only to pick up personal items such as shoes, jackets, etc.. and not educational items such as textbooks and homework. Items will be in bags placed in the front entrance of the building. Junior High students will have the opportunity to clean out their lockers during their appointment time. If Jr. High students do not clean their locker by the end of Thursday, March 19, the school will cut their lock to ensure there are no sanitary issues in the future. There will be a box available for returned library books and classroom materials (scholastic books, etc..), sports uniforms, and also a bin for the return of any term two documentation that required signatures, such as IPPs. At this point, Parent-Teacher interviews are postponed. We will send the new dates/outline the parent-teacher interview process next week. We want to thank our families for their understanding during this time. If you know of someone who is not receiving these updates please have them call the office to update their contact information. We appreciate your flexibility as we work to develop a plan of action for our students moving forward.
