https://fb.watch/1Zy-X0JpHQ/ What's the scoop with wolf teeth? We chatted with our friends at Alberta Farm Animal Care earlier this fall about these 'vestigial' structures and addressed 'why and how' they are removed. Check out the video below to learn more.
Nice to be back at the Stampede Grounds in downtown Calgary for the Royal West Mini series! Contact us for any of your veterinary needs during the show! (403) 691-9808
PPID (pars pituitary intermedia dysfunction), commonly known as 'Cushing's disease' occurs with a malfunction of the pituitary gland, typically in horses greater than 18 years of age. Hormone changes due to changes in the pituitary gland and consequent response by the adrenal gland, are responsible for observable clinical signs. A curly or shaggy hair coat that is slow to shed out in summer, weight loss, increased drinking and urination, lethargy, regional fat deposits, non... healing wounds, increased sweating and laminitis are all possible clinical signs that may point to PPID. Diagnosis is made based on history, clinical signs and specific hormone testing. Treatment is achieved through management changes as well as with pergolide mesylate, a dopamine agonist medication, that helps to regulate the pituitary gland and mitigate clinical signs. ***From now until October 31 2020, through Boehringer Ingelheim, we are offering *FREE* PPID testing for suspect PPID patients. ***
Happy World Veterinary Day to all the hard working, dedicated veterinarians

In light of the current public health concerns regarding COVID-19, TD Equine has instituted various measures in the best interest of protecting our staff and clients. -At this time, TD Equine will remain open during regular business hours as long as government regulations do not restrict us otherwise. -In these times of uncertainty, appropriate communication is paramount! Kindly let us know prior to an appointment should you be feeling ill, have recently traveled outside of C...anada, or feel uncomfortable interacting with our team. -If you require prescription refills, please call us ahead of time and we will instruct you regarding pick-up instructions. -We request that if you are feeling unwell, exhibiting respiratory signs/cough or fever, you refrain from coming into our reception area/treatment area. We are committed to ensuring the safety of our staff and are happy to arrange for prescription pick up/drop off at a designated location outside of our ‘high traffic’ areas. -We request all clients entering and leaving our treatment center and reception area to hand sanitize. -We are diligently exercising appropriate disinfection for COVID-19 both in cleaning our practice, our vehicles and between farm calls. -We request that the number of clients attending each appointment be limited, ideally, to one owner/handler per horse Sincerely, TD Equine team
