More good news.

Team Bryant second, Joel Matthews is off to Mohawk in the fall.

Season Wrap Up This weekend should have been the end of the 2019/2020 season. The Team Bryant boys had quite a ride. Looking back, the boys did their off season preparations and it paid off, going deep into most events. Weekly league play in Paris kept the boys sharp for weekend bonspiels. Coach Sean shaped the team and helped them work towards their goals. Every weekend we got together it was a mini party. Maybe more so for the parents, as this list might indicate. Shelley...’s tacos, meatballs (if Paula feels like it), rye, salad for Dane, maple rye, Grandma’s cookies, vanilla rye, pasta, Somersby, sandwiches, front row beer deliveries, Mike and Ike, medicinal jello syringes, back row suggestions protocol, chase the ace, mini eggs, 80’s music, magic quarters, Sean’s singing, hugging Carter, the draw-weight belt, Rick nagging Joel to wear the hat that hurts his head, gin and whatever for the ladies, Nolan losing every coin toss ever, new and different socks for every occasion, Ticats tailgating, bowling, a lot of important stuff. We are hopeful that ONCurl will reschedule the boys U18 and Mixed U18 Provincials in the fall. It would be nice to complete the journey and see how it plays out. We may not be the favourites but we believe in ourselves. The team was very prepared and expected to play meaningful games at the end of each event. Carter, Nolan and Dane have aged out of U18. Carter and Nolan will join a new U21 unit called Team Harris. Joel will be entering his final season of U18. Joel has joined the new Team Hocevar. Carter will be attending university in the fall. Nolan is headed for Fanshawe. Dane is going to Fleming. Joel will join his brother at Mohawk. All of the boys intend to curl for their respective schools. It will be fun to see Dane, Nolan and Joel compete against each other at OCAA’s. Thanks to our many Facebook fans that cheered, supported us and watched our game videos. Thanks to our coach and parent team, the true backbone of Team Bryant. So many laughs, so many memories, so many videos to rewatch and to remember all the ups and downs. The video never lies. See you all in the fall. Be well.

Given the current health crisis all around the world, it is understandable that the U18 Ontario Provincials have been cancelled. But it still hurts. The boys worked hard for the opportunity. The boys are crushed. Be well everyone.
