Today's project was multiple cylinder misfire due to improper injector installation elsewhere. When ever you install new injectors on a BMW direct injectedN54 engine the teflon seals must be replaced which requires a special tool to resize and properly fit the new ones or you will end up with misfires and flames going up on the shaft . The other one is a "small tree" being carried in the engine bay which will clog the drainage under the windshield backing up water into the electronic box and the interrior causing electrical nightmares. Third set is a severely worn belt which have seen better days . Belts are consumables and they have a limited lifetime which is approximately one hundred thousand kilometers on average, overextending their life will get you stranded perhaps. Today's unusual excitement at the end of the day literally at 17:45 client arrived with this well maintained E46 on fire . I mean no joke the hood just started to bubble from the heat ,other client just yelling fire mom your car is on fire jee lucky we jumped and grabbed an extinguisher and it was taken care of, phew had some hot flashes momentarily. The cause, squirrels build a nest over the exhaust by the time they got here got hot enough to catch on fire with al...l the plastics around it adding ,fueling it further . Now I need a beer to relax from the excitement. This time of the year all the little critters are in overdrive getting prepared for winter stuffing leafs and other " valuables" wherever they see it fit ,lift your hood once in a while to check for nests and pine cones and the like so it doesn't hapeen to your car , needless to say this is not the first time . It's tire season currently, most people getting ready for winter driving. Tires are being replaced for the season which it should be ,except you're the owner should ask questions. For instance this Mercedes RFT ( run flat) tires were damaged by improper mounting and cheap not RFT certified equipment. Second picture with the arrows show a clean good tire bead and most other pictures show a damaged bead which will never be able to seal and hold air within the long term . We invested in a Corghi Artiglio Master to properly mount run flat or other highly specific specialty tires and also using a Hoffmann 3 D wheel balancer for the best possible results. Porsche Boxster mice invasion!
