The Fitting Room

Book early for 2021 weddings! Next year promises to be a very busy bridal year. Venues are booked up, and we have heard of brides needing to book their weddings on a Wednesday just to get a date. Please keep in mind, that alterations take time (often 10-20 hours per gown), and there are only so many hours in a day. Normally, we like brides to call in time to start their alterations about 10-12 weeks before the wedding. This usually means calling about 12-16 weeks before the wedding. Please be sure to give us lots of time to fit you in. If you are the kind of person who never changes size, then you can take advantage of our off-season and get your alterations in now. We do not recommend this for people who fluctuate or who plan on losing weight.

Best wishes to you and your husband. -Nicole... Alina was one of our brides this summer. She brought us her dress before all of the craziness of COVID and asked us to cut the train shorter to use the materials to raise her neckline and cover her back, shoulders and arms. Although we were shut down for quite some time, we were able to have her dress ready in time for the rescheduled happy day when they turned their big wedding into a wonderfully intimate ceremony. We were happy with the results of her customization, and so was she. What a great way to personalize her dress. What do you think of the results?

We just went by yesterday to see this lovely up-and-coming venue. It is breathtaking! Their official grand opening has been postponed due to COVID, but they just want to help as many brides as possible who have been affected by the pandemic. These fabulous people understand the hardships that brides are facing, and are able... to offer the venue "by donation". Your wedding can be up to the size dictated by the Province on the date of your wedding. They have 30 tables (I think) in their covered reception area, which can be opened up if the weather is nice, or have a white tent wall, with cathedral windows overlooking a pond with water fountain. We are pleased to have Mastor Tailor Franco Angileri join The Fitting Room team. You may recognize him from his 40 year business, Franco Angileri Designs on Erie Street. Franco retired last year, but found that he was bored. We welcome his experience and expertise, stories and friendly smile.

Good news for our brides! The limit for your wedding has been raised to 50! We are on our way to have the wedding you want. More good news:. In consultation with a lawyer on the wording of the business closure and what is required preparation for re-opening, I have been advised that The Fitting Room can now work on the dresses that have been there since before the closure. Dresses for brides and bridal parties who have advised that they wish the alterations to be complet...ed and customers contacted. There are a number of gowns that have been able to be picked up for quite some time. Please contact the shop for a pick-up time. Fittings are not permitted at this time,. We will be allowed to resume fittings once Windsor is allowed to proceed with stage 2. We are able to sell our retail accessories at this time. Please contact call the shop if you would like to see our selection. Masks are required within the shop for our mutual safety. New safety measures are being implemented as well as some policy and procedure changes for re-open. More information on that will follow by the time we re-open. Edit: Well, I thought there was good news. Sadly, there is a disconnect between what the Premier said in the June 8 press conference and what is actually written for the list of businesses that are allowed to re-open. One little word changes the meaning entirely. It does not look like alterations will be among the businesses allowed to open as part of stage 2. There is good news!!! The sector that The Fitting Room falls under will be allowed to re-open with Stage 2. The bad news is that Windsor is one of the areas that is not allowed to proceed with stage 2 this week. Soon though... stage two is in our sights, it's just a matter of when...

Valued customers, I cannot begin to express the frustration I feel as I once again just tried to plead the case of completing alterations that have been waiting in my shop since before the closure.
