A little positivity for you during lockdown.
Some tips and ideas that I hope can help you through this difficult time as a musician.
Who says social distancing isn't a good thing? I've had the pleasure of working with this Colombian band, Mmapakat Folk Metal, out of Bogota. I recently mixed their single, and they released it today! It was a very interesting experience hearing a different take on what constitutes "folk metal" in different parts of the world. I had a lot of fun with it, so check it out!
Have you been taking this time to create new material? I want to hear your music, podcasts, see your artwork, whatever you've been doing to occupy yourself! Comment down below, and I'll be posting some of my material soon!
With the current COVID-19 crisis, the music industry is taking a huge hit. Many artists are facing lost income due to cancelled shows and self-isolation. In an effort to help the already struggling music scene, I would like to offer my services to musicians who may have been affected by doing the following: If you have access to home recording equipment, I will mix, master, produce and/or provide session instruments for you at a severely discounted rate. A portion of the proc...eeds will be re-invested into local artists, promoters, and labels who have lost income due to recent events. The intent is to ensure that exposure and revenue to local artists continues, especially while so many people are at home and will have time to check out more music. I will do this work remotely from my home, to encourage self-isolation during this outbreak. If this interests you, please reach out to me. Let's find a way to get through this difficult time together as a community.
Let's be real...
Day job has been slow this past week. Anyone looking to record a single? Special pricing if you book for this week. DM me or head over to www.theamazinbazin.com for more information!
The musician's guide to getting JACKED.
This one is guaranteed to piss someone off.
New blog post! Some tips and tricks for stretching your dollars in a local band!
It's my studio intern's first day helping with podcast edits. He's doing great so far!
Looking to record your demos, start a podcast, or get into recording? Start here!
Thanks to all the bands who showed interest in submitting a song for the compilation project! I've got about 6 lined up so far, but I'm looking for more. If your metal band would like to get a single mixed and mastered free of charge, let me know! I still have a few spots open, and would like to fill them up with songs from bands across BC, AB, SK and MB. DM me, or send an email to [email protected] for more information or check out www.theamazinbazin.com for more details!
I fell off the wagon a bit with my tutorial videos, but that's because I was tied up with client mixes, so deal with it. Here's the next part of our signal chain in our in-ear monitors: the mixer! https://youtu.be/tTsXD49J_us
The content train is well underway, as I'm making a habit of posting more and more instructional materials for you. I want to know, what would benefit you, the local musician, someone getting into recording, beginning a podcast, or any other kind of instructional content? If you have any requests for something specific you'd like to know more about, I'd be happy to post a video, blog or live post about it! Leave a comment to let me know how I can help you step up your game!
It's a pretty validating feeling when your wife, who listens to your mixes almost daily, hears the before/after of a vocal edit and asks how the hell you pulled that off. Did I mention that podcast and audiobook recording/editing is among the many services I offer?
Take a gander at my new website! If you have any recommendations or feedback, I'd be glad to hear it! P.S: If you offer a service that benefits bands, please let me know if you'd like to be included on the upcoming "referrals" page. My goal is to eventually make my website a one-stop-shop for local bands looking for services like production, merch, graphic design and more.
One of the greatest icons of our time. Just about every rock and metal drummer today (not to mention Canadian musicians) has had some form of influence from Neil Peart. May he rest in peace.
Great response so far for my compilation project! I'm still looking for bands who want one of their songs mixed and mastered, free of charge! If you're in a metal band and would like to take advantage of this opportunity, or if you know someone who might be interested, feel free to spread the word!
The Amazin’ Bazin’s Bangers & Mosh: A Tasty Compilation of Western Metal Tunes Calling all Prairie Region/West Coast metal bands! I’m putting together a compilation album of singles from metal bands throughout SK, AB, MB and BC. I’m looking for bands who have a single recorded and ready to mix, which will be mixed and mastered for free! Kennedy Music Technologies Inc. has teamed up with me to help make this happen! The goal is to build myself a metal-based mixing portfolio, e...stablish and strengthen relationships within the western Canadian metal scene, bring additional exposure to western metal bands by cross-pollination within fan bases, and put out a badass compilation album. Between 5 and 15 bands are needed to submit stems for a single that they would like to appear on the album. I will mix and master the singles free of charge, as long as the bands can provide recorded, EDITED and CONSOLIDATED tracks and credit The Amazin’ Bazin upon their song’s release. If you want your band to appear on the album, but don’t have anything to submit, Kennedy Music Technologies Inc. is here to help! If you live in Saskatoon or can travel, KMT will provide you with a space to track strings at a reduced rate. As for drums, you’ll have to either find a space to track your own drums or come up with a MIDI solution. If you're interested in participating or helping the bands get their recording done, I’d love to hear from you! Send any questions and submissions to [email protected] or theamazinbazin.com for more information, rules & guidelines! Thanks, The Amazin Bazin.
Metal bands, stay tuned for an announcement on a major project in the next couple of days!
Isn't automation wonderful? We can tell computers to do the work for us! That exactly what happened when this video aired on Thursday and I completely forgot to share it! This is the first piece of our in-ear monitor chain. Enjoy!
