OUR JOURNEY In 2011 our journey began with the purchase of Astro Jump, where we began offering Saskatchewans largest selection of inflatable bouncy castle & obstacle course rentals. This business model was perfect for our owners as they were both university students at the time, and the busiest months fell to the summer. While we enjoyed bringing fun to backyards, town fairs, and corporate events across the province, a new vision began to emerge: extend our offering to in...clude an indoor facility that allowed for year round play + birthday parties. We wanted to offer a space that encouraged a fun way for children to stay active, eat healthy snacks, and that was known for being clean and safe, with exceptional customer service. In 2018, this dream became a reality with the purchase of an empty lot. We rebranded, changing our name to The Backyard, and began to design a new building that would also double as Saskatoons newest wedding venue. We drew inspiration from Scandinavian design, know for being functional, simple, and understated. When the colourful bouncers are stripped away, what remains is an airy space that leaves a blank canvas for couples to design and decorate the venue in a way that reflects their personalities and preferences. Our doors opened to the public in December 2019 and we have been grateful to receive such a positive response from our customers, both past and new. Fast forward to today, we are currently accepting private bookings for play (eg: private birthday parties where parents can hand select the group of people inside our facility at a given time) and are accepting wedding bookings into 2022. We are very excited to announce that we will be doing a phased re-opening, beginning on Thursday July 30! After careful consideration we have decided to temporarily suspend drop in play and will only be open for parties, group bookings and private facility bookings. Given the challenges of having children socially distance while playing, we made this decision to re-open only to parties, groups and private bookings so that our guests will only be coming into contact with the i...ndividuals they choose, as opposed to the random selection of people they would experience through drop in play. You can book a party or group session from Wednesday to Sunday every week beginning on July 30. You will have exclusive use of half of our indoor facility, with at least 3 inflatables set up to provide a variety of entertainment options. There will also be dedicated eating area for your enjoyment. Each space will be fully cleaned using hospital grade sanitizer before and after your 90 minute time slot. With the recent Government of Saskatchewan announcement that our industry can begin reopening on July 6th, we wanted to give you a quick update on our plans:... We will not be opening on July 6th, but we will be announcing our reopening date within the next week or two. The Rules for Renting: As a requirement for renting you must abide by all the government and public health rules and requirement during the rental, that means no inviting friends over to play! Rentals must be for your household alone. It is important that we continue to respect the social distancing measures in place. Additionally, if you or anyone in your household is sick with symptoms consistent with COVID-19, has been or may have been exposed to someone who was exposed to COVID-19, or is currently in a period of self isolation as a result of travel, you cannot rent an inflatable. Neighbours, In light of the public safety alert from the City of Saskatoon, stating that everyone should avoid public gatherings of 50 or more people, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close effective immediately. Therefore, The Backyard will be closed Monday March 16 and will reopen once it is in the best interest of our neighbours and community to do so. Its certainly a decision we dont take lightly for our guests and our valued Backyard team.... We have been blessed with the support that you have shown us and the new friends we have made in the short time we have been open. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future, but for now we stand united with you, your loved ones and all our health care workers as we all make sacrifices in an attempt to lessen the impact of COVID-19. If you have an event booked with us we will be calling you in the next day or two to arrange refunds or other alternatives where available. We will continue to be available by phone, email or social media message so feel free to reach out if you have questions or are looking to plan something in the future! The health and safety of everyone at The Backyard and all our neighbours continue to be our top priority. We are closely monitoring all the developments in regards to COVID-19 and are committed to following the best practice as set out by our provincial and federal health authorities. At this time, as the authorities indicate that the overall risk remains low, our hours of operation for this weekend are as posted. However, that could change quickly and we are prepared to res...pond however is necessary. As we said earlier, we have instituted additional measures to our already robust cleaning routine with the goal of making sure The Backyard is a safe place for you and your family to enjoy yourselves while we all work through these difficult times as a community, strong and united. You can help us by following the guidelines set out by the provincial health authority, and specifically: practicing good hand-washing, avoiding unsanitary social habits and staying home if you are sick or may have been exposed to someone who is sick. Please utilize the sand sanitizers available throughout the building and wash your hands thoroughly when you arrive.
