Awful! NEVER hand over a deposit nor sign documents without a licensed reputable realtor or a lawyer reviewing!! A lawyer can search title from their office and would have immediately known that this was a scam. Wish they would have called out the names of the people or company that stole from them.

Interesting read! It actually makes perfect sense that your credit score would drop considerably if your utilization spiked. 35% of your credit score is based on utilization. If you're applying for mortgage, keep those balances and the utilization below 30%. In regards to the 25% of Canadians who find errors on their credit bureau report, I'd say it was closer to 50%! I see so many credit bureaus with so many errors. It takes time to update and rectify the problem s...o I advise people to sign up for monthly Equifax and Transunion credit monitoring. They are the 2 credit bureau agencies in Canada. If you don't want to pay a monthly fee, at minimum check your credit bureau reports quarterly! You don't want any surprises! Trena's Tip: If you do not want monthly credit monitoring you can call Equifax and Transunion to have ALL new creditors call you prior to granting any credit.
