Heptacodium miconioides (Seven Sons Tree) has clusters of fragrant, nectar-rich, creamy-white flowers in late summer to early fall, which are very attractive to pollinators. Flowers, in clusters of seven, (hence the name), are followed by small, fruit, each crowned by a showy, starry cluster of five, cherry-red calyces that persist on the tree until frost. Good in shrub borders or woodland gardens, this tree comes in single or multi-stemmed form, and has ornamental, tan-coloured, exfoliating bark that looks fantastic in winter. Full sun to partial shade, average to moist, well-drained soil. Height 5-6 metre x 2.5-3m spread.
