As a 30-year veteran of the RCAF I understand the importance of balancing mission success and personnel safety. While working at 8 Wing I was fortunate enough to pioneer some processes in preparing units for deployment to high stress operational settings during the Afghanistan campaign. After retirement from the RCAF I spent five years in Nova Scotia proving the work that we had accomplished by replicating it in the paramilitary world of the RCMP. In doing so I became more aw...are of, and exposed to, the nuances of Operational Stress Injuries (OSI). It is a common experience we military folks share with our first-responder community around PTSD. With that focus I became part of the team working at the Society of Atlantic Heroes; a not-for-profit organization created in Halifax to provide services and support to military, veterans and first-responders who are managing OSI. Part of the issue that we’ve seen is that OSI’s can translate into PTSD when the focus of the individual is left in a negative mind state. Studies in positive psychology have shown that a mind state can have significant impact on how an individual processes a situation. With this in mind, I’ve created a brand, and an event, aimed specifically at creating opportunities for the encouragement of post-traumatic growth. It’s called momondays Halifax, and it includes speakers from all walks of life sharing their stories and the positive outcome that those situations gave them. So, with the concept proving itself, we’re putting together a full day of talks and workshops specifically for you! It’s kind of like a TED Talk event, with the focus being just on military and first-responders. On the 24th of June we’re hosting a momondays Halifax workshop on the Soctiabank Stage of Neptune Theatre. All money from the day will be going to the Society of Atlantic Heroes to support the work they’re doing here for the benefit of our military and first resonders. Supporting them is an obligation that we all share. Let us show you how we can do that better. The Base Commander from Gagetown has already responded in the affirmative that he will be supporting this event. Help spread the word. https://www.linkedin.com//urn:li:activity:651016533077244/ PER ARDUA AD ASTRA Tim

I'm truly stoked. My first momondays Halifax show is coming up on the 25th of February. It will be featuring Steve MacLellan, Alain Blondin, Amara Bangura, and Aaron Kinch as speakers. There's one more speaker yet to be confirmed and I'm positive she will really take this exceptional show over the edge to truly fantastic. I've got a new team working with me. Michael Stack is going to Emcee. Tamara Freeman is the Artistic Director. We've got a new venue. The Carelton is ...going to host us and become our new home. Last, but most definitely not least, my friend, Dave Carroll, has agreed to come play a couple of songs for the relaunch. All is exceptionally right in the world. It really is going to be a great event. https://www.momondays.com/halifax/
