Here at The Champions Academy, the kids are enjoying sensory activities while following social distancing rules. All the kids at the centre have separate bins for sand except the siblings. One of the kids was using the sand to make mud pies for his friends to enjoy during snack time. Another child was giving the animals a wash using shaving cream. We are currently accepting new registrations!

Hello Parents, We have been notified that the Government of Alberta has ordered the immediate closure of all licensed daycares, Kindergarten to Grade 12 classes, as well as all Post Secondary institutions due to the spread of COVID-19. Until further notice, The Champions Academy Daycare & OSC will be closed. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our families but unfortunately this is not in our hands. We know that you may have a lot of questions but unfor...tunately, we do not have the answers just yet. We are getting information just as you are through media updates. We will keep everyone updated via email as well as Facebook during this closure. We ask all the parents to follow all AHS recommendations to continue stopping the spread of COVID-19. We are in an unprecedented moment in modern time, but we will get through this if we work together to stop the spread. Thank you for your understanding. It is our hope that these aggressive measures will stop the spread of COVID-19. Stay safe and healthy!

This year, Pink Shirt Day, or Anti-Bullying Day, is on February 26. It is a day when people come together by wearing pink shirts to school or work to show they are against bullying. The focus for 2020 is "lift each other up."... In 2007 in Nova Scotia, Grade 12 students David Shepherd, Travis Price and a few friends saw that a Grade 9 student was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. They knew they had to do something to show that this kind of behaviour was not OK. They decided to go out and buy a bunch of pink shirts and hand them out to other students to wear. By the end of that week, most of the students in the school were wearing pink shirts to show support for the Grade 9 student who was bullied. Bullying is when someone deliberately tries to hurt someone else they think is weaker than they are. In many cases, bullying is repeated over and over and can cause a lot of pain that lasts a long time. It can even lead to things like depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. Bullying happens in many ways, but some common forms of bullying are verbal (teasing, name-calling), physical (hitting, kicking, pushing, breaking someone's toys or favourite things) or social (leaving someone out, spreading rumours). Cyberbullying is using social media or other technology like texting to threaten, embarrass or even damage a person's reputation. Here's what you can do: - Proudly wear your pink shirts to show that you stand up against bullying! - If you see someone being bullied or you're being bullied, talk to a trusted grownup about it. - When someone is being bullied, in person or online, stand up for them so that they know that they don't deserve to be bullied. - Don't encourage bullying by participating in bullying behaviour.

Have you been to Bob's? The fanciful light show has become a holiday tradition for Bob Fedina. Located at 7421 108st, it is only a 5 minute drive or a short 18 minute walk from the daycare. The house is alive with lights and decorations: dancing candy canes, twirling nutcrackers, twinkling icicles and bobbing snowmen. Bob Fedina is the mastermind behind the eccentric collection. A carpenter by trade, he builds most of the decorations by hand. Fedina has been creating the winter wonderland for more than a decade, inviting crowds to wander by his luminescent lawn at 7421 108th St. Visit http://www.christmasatbobs.ca/welcome.html for more information
