February Challenge Complete! _____________________ I decided that every month in 2020 would be a new well-being challenge, rather than a resolution. January was to attend at least one class/day @oxygenhrm. February was to get back to meditating everyday. Like training muscle with physical conditioning, meditation can help strengthen the mind by training attention and awareness, and achieving mental clarity and emotional stability.... Meditation is something I’ve been exploring for a few years now. Initially it was really hard to last any longer than two minutes without entertaining a new thought coming in. Then I started taking regular sauna baths. Within a couple weeks I could easily get to ten minutes. Usually it’s an incredible way to meditate; sometimes you have to take headphones in to keep others from sparking conversation. After a couple months in the sauna, I took it up a notch by checking out the sensory-depriving float tanks at the @thefloatcentre. Floating on a regular basis definitely helped improve my meditation skills. So everyday in February, I made sure to carve out a minimum of 10minutes to meditate. Some mornings it was before started my day at the practice, others in the sauna, and other days it was in the form of a 60min yoga class (moving meditation). ... oh and I still managed to continue in January’s challenge... 21classes, 8 gym works outs. _______________ Top tips: 1. Focus of your breathing, don’t worry when you get distracted; just start again. 2. Focus on a feeling or idea (self-love or appreciation are good ones). 3. Listen to tones/(solfeggio) frequencies that help bring you you into certain states. I particularized 528Hz, 741Hz and 963Hz. Check them out on Spotify ( Kev Thompson ). 4. And lots of water if you’re going to be spending time in the sauna!!
