Poetry is the lens we use to interrogate the history we stand on and the future we stand for. It’s no coincidence that at the base of the Statue of Liberty, there is a poem. Our instinct is to turn to poetry when we’re looking to communicate a spirit that is larger than ourselves. Whenever I’m writing, I’m looking at the history of words. The specific history of words in the Inaugural poem was: We have seen the ways in which language has been violated and used to dehumanize. How can I reclaim English so we can see it as a source of hope, purification and consciousness? https://time.com/5/amanda-gorman-michelle-obama-interview/

This is so on point it left me speechless for a few minutes. Pulitzer Prize winning.
Excellent piece on Seth Klein's new book and its place at Canadian literary festivals this year! https://www.theglobeandmail.com//article-canadas-literar/
Missy, thanks for this one! I agree, this is very powerful!
Beautiful and profound. Thank you, brother.
Always happy to recognize the remarkable women making an impact on our world in such a positive way. Kudos to Stacey Abrams for building a network of organizations that highlighted voter suppression and inspired an estimated 800,000 new voter registrations. https://www.nytimes.com//politics/stacey-abrams-biden-geor
We’re all born a Witch. We’re all born into magic. It’s taken from us as we grow up. ~Madeleine L’Engle - photo by Holly Spring
Science and sacred knowledge don't usually go hand-in-hand. But botanist and medical biochemist Diana Beresford-Kroeger is forging a path built on their collective wisdom, which she believes could help lead the way out of the growing climate crisis. She joins Steve Paikin to share her vision that's outlined in her latest book, "To Speak for the Trees: My Life's Journey from Ancient Celtic Wisdom to a Healing Vision of the Forest." https://www.tvo.org//a-scientists-sacred-wisdom-about-tree
"oh, thanks, i'm good." "i'm okay, i got it." any of these phrases sound familiar? you don't have to do it all by yourself. community is an integral part of s...elf-care. when we are so used to giving to others, it can be hard to receive support and help from others. for the last day of this invitation, consider allowing yourself to receive more. when folks offer support, consider saying yes instead of defaulting to "no."
But while aggression in women remains suspect, the public is drawn, now more than ever, to girls who reproach and rebuke, calling the world to account for its ills and girls in turn are learning to harness that public gaze to effect larger change. https://www.nytimes.com//t-ma/girls-women-revolution.html
