You don't make pizza deliveries like this everyday. Armando's had an opportunity to deliver a king size pizza to the helicopter crew of the Ontario Provincial Police while they were in Tecumseh, Ontario. An amazing initiative to everyone involved. The Drive Hive This week we're featuring Jen Brignall-Strong What Inspired you to start writing? I don’t know exactly what inspired me but I have loved writing since I was a young child. I remember being obsessed with the R.L. Stine Goosebumps series of books in grade school. I was always very interested in telling stories, so a career in journalism seemed like the perfect fit for me. ... How long have you been writing for? I have been writing professionally for over 15 years. Fun fact: I have a line of sausages named after me at Robbie’s Gourmet Sausage Co. in Walkerville. Anything with JB Strong on the label is something I helped create! Something our readers wouldn't know about you? I am addicted to movie popcorn. Sometimes I go to the theatre just to pick up a bag and eat it at home. What book is currently on your bedside table/favourite book? My favourite book is hands down The Stand by Stephen King. I am currently reading The Invited by Jennifer McMahon. What do you like to do when you're not taking photos? When I’m not busy writing I enjoy reading scary books (I’m in a horror book club). I also love to cook/bake and explore new restaurants across Windsor-Essex County.

The Drive Hive This week we're featuring Jesse Ziter What Inspired you to start writing? This is a difficult question to answer! I can’t point to a discrete eureka! moment, but I’ve always enjoyed reading. I took to English and other writing-intensive classes from early elementary school; it’s always made sense I would work with words in some professional capacityparticularly as I have few other marketable skills!... How long have you been writing for? I have been writing in some capacity for effectively my entire life, but I’ve been doing so professionally for about 10 years. Fun fact: Weirdly, I was quoted extolling the virtues of pressure washing in the New York Times this summer. I had a long conversation with Anne Helen Petersen, an excellent journalist whom I admire, about the therapeutic potential of becoming a yard dad in a disastrous world. Something our readers wouldn't know about you? If you are familiar with me as a magazine feature writer, you might not know this is very much a side project for me. At my day job, I teach technical communications to international Master of Engineering students at the University of Windsor. What book is currently on your bedside table/favourite book? A few! - Andre Alexis, Fifteen Dogs - Anne Helen Petersen, Can’t Even: How Millennials Became the Burnout Generation - Nikolay Gogol, Selected Stories - Sally Rooney, Normal People What do you like to do when you're not taking photos? I care quite a bitprobably far too much, reallyabout soccer. I played somewhat seriously in my youth, and I occasionally play and coach now. I watch and follow the English Premier League and other European and North American soccer with a fervor frankly inappropriate for a man in his thirties.

The Drive Hive This week we're featuring Anthony Sheardown Photography What Inspired you to get into photography? Leaving high school I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life & I was feeling very inspired. I loved going on adventures & exploring, I picked up a camera & I never stopped!... How long have you been in photography for? I bought my first camera in 2013! Fun fact: I spend about 35+ days a year traveling! Something our readers wouldn't know about you? Aside from photography I also build picture frames from reclaimed wood & other materials. What book is currently on your bedside table/favourite book? Into The Wild. What do you like to do when you're not taking photos? Along with traveling I’m also really into motorcycles, skateboarding, rock climbing & BMX biking!

The Drive Hive This week we're featuring Alley Biniarz What inspired you to start writing? The first time I knew that I wanted to write was in the fourth grade when my desk got moved from my grade school crush. I decided to write a persuasive letter (and song) to my teacher to get me moved back, and though I didn’t send the letter, I loved the power I felt from the written word. As much as I loved reading and writing, my parents and teachers could never keep me focused or sti...ll for long enough to just sit and write something. I grew bored quickly and wanted to engage with others and hear their stories. I’ve always felt more inspired by other people, so journalistic writing paired with interesting in-person interviews felt like a good fit for me. I absolutely love talking to and meeting new people and hearing what story is in their heart. Everyone has a unique story to tell and I love excavating those untold stories. How long have you been writing? I’ve been professionally writing since 2016 but I began actively writing daily in my grade 12 writer’s craft class. Fun Fact about you: I’m currently a farmer and I once won a beauty pageant! (Miss Tecumseh 2012) Share something our readers wouldn't know about you: I’m a vegetarian who doesn’t like salad! What book is currently on your bedside table/favourite book? Favourite book: Franny & Zooey JD Salinger Current book: The Water Cure Sophie Macintosh What do you like to do when you're not writing? I love cooking and going out for local beers!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=YI3ieH8_-0s In 2018, Kathy and Ron Oglan experienced the unimaginable. Their son, Jackson had struggled with his mental health. He sought help and they worked through it as a family during high school and into his first year of university. Shortly after his return home, sadly Jackson lost the battle with his depression. This is their story about the importance of dealing with someone with Mental Health. It is an invaluable invest...ment in 12 minutes of your time, show it to loved ones, watch it with your kids and share amongst your friends. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In 2016, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit prepared a Mental Health Profile of Windsor and Essex County. Their main objective was to capture the current status of mental health in our community. The most alarming is that the number of suicides is increasing in our area, and men accounted for nearly 3 in 4 self-harm deaths, in many cases, by intentional self-poisoning.... Read our past article below on the signs to watch for and help keep the conversation going.
