Yes, Day ONE! Don’t worry, this doesn't mean we are looking for a by-the-clock schedule for your newborn! But, you can absolutely begin a great bedtime routine from the very early days of baby’s life, which can help to cue to your little one when sleep time is arriving! A great routine might include: - Bath (not soap every night, so we don’t dry out baby’s skin!) - PJs and swaddle or sleep bag - Feed... - Story and song - Into the crib for the night! When did you establish a bedtime routine for your little one? What's your favourite part? Ours is story-time, even now that my kiddo is 8 and reads on her own in the day, she still wants us to read to her at bedtime #babysleep #momminainteasy #babyschedules #helpmesleep #babysleeptips #newbornsleep #fourthtrimester #honestmomin #sleepcoach #sleepcoaching #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleepexpert #babysleep #babysleepcoach #babysleepexpert #babysleepconsultant #babysleephelp #breastfeeding #pacifier #feeding #newborn #4month #babysleeptip #motherhoodintheraw #baby #newmom #sleeptraining #babysleepadvice See more

Another team introduction from The Happy Sleep Company... Meet Alex! Alex Tousignant has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a proud Registered Nurse working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Ottawa. She is also blessed to be the Mom of two beautiful little girls who are, thanks to hard work, excellent little sleepers! After struggling with and then overcoming her own little one's sleep challenges, Alex says her eyes were op...ened not only to how to support her girls in becoming strong sleepers, but also to the bigger picture: Why sleep is so crucial to both our children’s development and a family’s overall well being. This newfound knowledge lit a fire in her to gain the training and knowledge that would allow her to support other families as they navigate the challenges and hardships that come with sleep difficulties. Alex has worked with so many families to get them healthy, amazing rest, and is such a valuable asset to The Happy Sleep Company! #sleepybaby #sleepingbaby #babysleep #babysleeping #sleepeasybaby #sleeptimebaby #babyneedssleep #sleeplittlebaby #sleeptipsforbaby #sleepcoaching #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleepexpert #babysleep #babysleepcoach #babysleepexpert #babysleepconsultant #babysleephelp #sleeptraining #babysleeptraining #newmom #newparents #sleephelp #sleeptipsforbaby See more

Many parents find swaddling in the first few months very helpful - that startle reflex (Moro reflex) is for REAL in many babies. But, if you have chosen to swaddle in the early weeks or months, when is it time to transition out of the swaddle? Here are two signs to watch for... ONE: When your baby can roll: As soon baby shows signs of being able to roll independently, it’s time to switch out of a swaddle and into a sleep bag, for safety! ... TWO: When baby is constantly breaking out of the swaddle on their own: If this is happening consistently, then a) the swaddle’s not really doing its job any more anyway! And b) baby is likely attempting to use his hands to self soothe at this point, and we want to allow him to do that. Was your baby every swaddled? When did you transition out of it? #healthysleep #happyfamilies #babysleep #babysleephelp #babysleeptips #babysleepadvice #babysleepconsultant #sleepcoaching #sleeptraining #ottawasleepconsultant #ottawamoms #613moms #ottawamb #trappedbythenap #napstruggles #shortnaps #newmom #newparents #newborn #nightwakes #newbornbaby #parentingadvice #sleepconsultant #thehappysleepcompany #swaddledtosleepbag #swaddling See more

Anyone who knows me at all knows of my total adoration for sleep bags. When my own daughter was still in a crib, I had tried so many different varieties of sleep bags; we had every style and colour under the rainbow! A sleep bag is essentially what you’d get if you combined all the best attributes of a cozy, comfy sleeping bag with a soft and lightweight baby blanket. I recommend them for a number of reasons: - Safety: Health experts agre...e that there should be no loose items in a child’s crib, including blankets. A sleep bag is essentially a wearable blanket, meaning you get all of the warmth and coziness of a blanket, without the safety hazards associated with loose items being in your child’s crib. A proper-fitting sleep bag will ensure your baby’s head cannot slip inside, removing the suffocation hazard associated with blankets that can end up on top of baby’s little mouth and nose. - Warmth: Babies move a LOT in their sleep this means little legs often kick off blankets, leaving your child chilly at night. Sleep sacks stay in place and keep your baby warm the whole night through. - Containment! I receive many messages from parents who have moved their chid to a toddler bed at the age of two or younger because their child was jumping out of the crib. A sleep bag can help avoid this when a child is still quite young to be in a bed. This adorable avocado sleep bag is by @louloulollipop, one of my favourite Canadian brands. PS. Last week's podcast episode was all about Sleep Bags, if you haven't listened yet - check it out on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Just search Sleep Cues! See more
