Yesterday marked an anniversary that is only relevant in the minds of a few people. My sisters and my Mom and I mark this day quietly never really speaking of it but deeply heavy hearted. It is a difficult anniversary, always falling close to Fathers Day and my daughter Claras Bday. Every year is a mass of emotions as this anniversary approaches. It is the day my Dad drowned. June 23, 1991. This poem was a poem he wrote when he was 19 years old shortly after he became ...a Christian. The photo is just months before he died at my 15th birthday, lighting the candles for my cake. How brief and short our lives are. So many people just go through life never contemplating its brevity and the significance a day brings to live, share, care for and invest in others. I am older than the man in the photo. I am seeing my kids grow up. He never got to see that miracle. So many people just go about their lives looking for justice and never offering grace or mercy. Myself included. Its so hard to be human. Its so hard to take hurts and disappointments and harness those set backs for good. It takes deliberate choices and character to go deeper. It takes a loving saviour who has abundant mercy and demonstrated that mercy through Jesus My Friend. See more

It takes an army to make it happen!

Took some pizza, some ice cream sandwiches and a Christmas surprise ( A gaming station.. shhh.. That was Ryans idea and a brilliant one at that! ) up to the gu...ys at the Teen Challenge Center today with Paul MacNeil, Ryan MacNeil and Tim Sleigh. Although we didnt have much time to spend with the guys I think it was one of my favourite trips out of the past ten years up. Everyone was full, smiling and we had the chance to hear one of the guys share is story and how God has been helping him overcome addictions in his life.. I love the honesty of these guys.. No pride. Just brutal truth. And then moving on together supporting each other. I love Teen Challenge and the hearts of these people including the staff who serve.

This is Holly.. Sara Lewis and I were walking down Broadway in Nashville which is the saloon and live music central of the Nashville scene and ran into Holly se...lling jewellery made from guitar strings donated by all the artists in Nashville. We were trying to find something special for our friends and staff back home. Hollys story really struck me. She is a nurse in Nashville who is a recovered alcoholic and she spends her weekends volunteering her time selling this amazing jewellery to support the women at the addictions recovery center that saved her from her own addiction. https://www.halomissions.com ... check it out... they are also on Etsy. We had time to hang and chat with her and hear her story. It takes so much courage to overcome addiction and having love, support and help along the way is tremendous and critical. Needless to say we bought a bunch of stuff from her.
