We couldn’t agree more . We need more affordable housing, and supports for landlords to help keep rents affordable for people on lower incomes.

A winter storm this weekend will make staying warm and safe difficult for some of our Saskatoon citizens. Because of our outbreak we are not able to be a warm-up location at this time. Please direct them to the locations on this poster.

The MHO has declared that The Lighthouse is in a Covid outbreak. We’d like to let friends and family of our friends here know that they are being well taken care of. We have continued covid safety protocols under the guidance of public health since the beginning of the pandemic. . We had one case that we believe to be a community contact and that person has been isolating for several days already. We also had one case a few weeks ago from a community person involved with Th...e Lighthouse. We have one person who had close contact with a Covid positive person who has been tested and is isolating. Contact tracing has been completed and everyone involved has been tested and/or is isolating. . Our staff are the most compassionate and caring staff. They go above and beyond to reach people who are hurting so badly. They take people as they are with no judgement and give them a warm place to sleep, nutritious food and hope for a better life. If you would truly like to help us please send positive thoughts, comments and prayers. Our staff are NOT motivated by mean comments. . To the people who are calling our phone with mean, hurtful and uninformed comments PLEASE STOP. To the gentleman who called threatening to come down with a hazmat suit today and push everybody into the lighthouse PLEASE DON’T. If you truly want to help, and we suspect you don’t, but if you do, take the money you would’ve spent on your hazmat suit and donate it to The Lighthouse so that we can keep helping the people you’d prefer to pretend don’t exist. #nimbymuch #bringcasserolesnotjudgement https://www.lighthousesaskatoon.org/donatenow/

Check out this article featuring our very own Food Services Manager, Miriah Krochak. Our friends at The Lighthouse benefit everyday from the skills Miriah learned at SaskPolyTech. . "Sask Polytech is partnering with the Lighthouse to help cook various dishes....Miriah sends us her ingredients, our students prepare the dishes (in COVID-compliant kitchen labs), then send them back to the Lighthouse. It’s a real win-win. I think it also gives students a chance to see how they can use their skills to give back to the community. https://alumni.saskpolytech.ca//news/cooking-as-social-jus

Happy Turkey Coma day! Today we wanted to take a moment to thank the wonderful people in our communities and beyond! We couldn’t do what we do without you and hope to partner with many more. We had the honour of having @mhcare_medical sponsor our entire thanksgiving meal yesterday which served close to 300 people in the Lighthouse community. We look forward to having our friends from @mhcare_medical come back again soon!

FACT or FICTION? The Lighthouse kicks people out onto the street at 7am. . . FICTION: The Lighthouse is the permanent home of over 140 Saskatoon residents. They live in either our independent or our supported apartment building on our campus. ... Guests of the shelter are encouraged to stay safely indoors as long as they want in order to reduce the risk of them getting COVID-19. When we're not in a pandemic, guests are encouraged to go outside to get fresh air, and access other helpful resources. However, they are able to hang out in the dining room as long as they want. We do not kick them out. There are many people who hang around outside of The Lighthouse. Most are not guests or residents of our programs.

This has been a year unlike any other, but maybe not in the way you might think. Here at The Lighthouses in North Battleford and Saskatoon, we have experienced some of the most unusual, difficult, and yet at the same time, heartwarming moments. Covid -19 has definitely changed how we do a few things, but one thing that never changes is our love for the communities and people of Saskatchewan. You have been so incredibly generous this year. We want to say a huge thank you fr...om the bottom of our hearts. Our friends here at The Lighthouse have stayed safe, healthy and fed thanks to your generosity. For that, we are most grateful. They are the reason we do what we do. We have taken a financial hit keeping our residents and staff safe during COVID -19. If you are able, please consider sending a gift. https://www.lighthousesaskatoon.org/donate/
