One of the things that we’ve always had planned for the Makerie were monthly botanical drawing sessions. Imagine a long table filled with beautiful flowers and amazing people all admiring and sketching together. It’s not about creative perfection, it’s about curiosity, setting aside time to appreciate small beauties in life and togetherness in that act. We look forward to the day when we can do that. Until then, I was gifted this amazing @somethingbluefloral protea from a ...friend. After admiring it in a vase for days and days, I’ve really been anxiously waiting for it to start to die so I could cut it open and see what was inside. For anyone who is setting aside time in their holiday schedule for some artsy stuff, I’m going to drop a bunch of photos in our stories for use as inspiration. We’ll be at the shop today 10am - 5pm. Making the Makerie Safe Again As a result of the new Provincial Orders, we’ve made some process changes at the Makerie! It’s going to be yuge! Here’s what to expect: Masks are mandatory. ... Please put yours on BEFORE entering the shop. If you don’t/can’t wear a mask, we can offer curbside service. We’ll take your order at the door and bring drinks to you outside once they’re ready. Masks must be worn indoors at all times, unless eating and drinking, even while seated. If you are getting Coffee Bar goodness to go: You’ll order at the front, as per usual. If you’re a group that is paying separately, you can all enter to order, then you’ll have to rock-paper-scissors it out as only one member of your group can stay to collect the order for the group. We’ll assign you one of our lovely waiting chairs (I need a cleverer name) and you’ll remain seated while waiting for your order to be prepared. We’ll bring you your order when ready. If you’d like to stay in at the Makerie, groups may only be IMMEDIATE HOUSEHOLD or CORE BUBBLE, max six per table. Please review the Province’s definition of Core Bubble. We will bring you to your table and you’ll be able to digitally review our craft AND coffee bar menus from your phone. A Craftender will come by to take your order. You must remain seated unless using the washroom, washing hands, or leaving the shop. No cash transactions at this time. You can also expect the same amazing Makerie crafts, drinks and Bakerie treats, the same amazing staff and the same positive energy as we work to amp out every day. Please be nice to our staff! One of our favourite projects! One of our Craftenders hand sewed every one of these little houses to have them all ready to decorate and make your own! Can’t you just imagine adding your own house number to realllllly make it yours? Perhaps to commemorate a first house, your current house, or even childhood home?

Okie dokie! One of the things that we’ve been working on today is a registration system for in-studio Maker Sessions. We’ve had to reduce our staffing at this time and it is making in-studio crafting more challenging.... So long as you are maximum 6 people, and from the same immediate household or core bubble as defined by the province, you are still able to join us at The Makerie, at this time. That being said, we’re now doing it only by advance registration. You’ll make your reservation online, pre-select your crafts and our Craftenders will get everything ready in advance of your arrival. Not only does this help us on the staffing side, it also helps us reduce contact points during in-studio crafting. This is just one thing we’ve been working on.
