A Letter to the Malton Community Dear Malton Community, As we watch recent events we must stand in solidarity with the pain and suffering of the families who have lost loved ones. Like so many of you, this has stirred up many emotions and perhaps even the burden of past trauma. We implore everyone to lean into the conversations that are happening as uncomfortable as they may be. We encourage you to open your hearts, and ears, as well as, to leverage the power your voices ca...rry to create change. The effects of racism and corrupt systems impact everyone in some way. The Malton Black Development Association (MBDA), alongside you, long for positive reform because we know that the safety and livelihood of the Black Community are dependent on eradicating racism and exclusion. Our continuous promise to the community is as follows: We will continue to host and collaborate with community partners to create spaces for you to highlight areas of disparity in community resources Local black business and artisans will be celebrated and supported at our events and through our many charitable endeavors. We stand by our vision to inspire youth through mentorship and with post -secondary scholarships as we continue to reimagine economic empowerment The MBDA will continue to advocate for mental health awareness so everyone can successfully navigate the society we live in and support others along the way We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and invite others to join us as we continue to build strong community ties and a better world for your family, co-workers, neighbours and for future generations. If you would like to be put on the e-mail list for upcoming events or learn about volunteer opportunities please reach out to us at [email protected], or follow us on Facebook at @THEMBDA. Yesterday the Malton Black Development Association picked up laptops to help Malton Seniors stay connected with loved ones during this tough time and improve computer literacy. We would like to extend a big thanks to the local businesses that provided devices and MPP Deepak Anand for partnering with us to keep Mississauga Malton connected!
Check your pantry's for anything not being used and remember to keep those in need during your next grocery trip! For some COVID-19 has heavily impacted access to food. Pick-up can also be arranged via [email protected]
